“Come to the table…” How many times have you heard those words in your life? We say them regularly at our house to gather

everyone for meal times. “Come to the table.” In that sense, it is the invitation to stop what they are

doing and come to be refilled and thus be ready to continue on.

As we are focusing on “engaging” in 2019, I would like to invite you to “come to the table.” Sunday

morning is the opportunity we participate in weekly, specifically to engage with God and with one

another. We believe it is a time for each of us to stop what we are doing, come to be refilled and

refreshed, and thus be ready to go out and engage with the world around us. Our physical lives will suffer

and struggle to do what we need to do in life if we fail to feed ourselves well and regularly. In the same

way, when we neglect to “come to the table” for the nourishment of God’s Word and the fellowship of our

spiritual family, our spiritual lives will suffer and struggle. We will be less effective in sharing the gospel.

We will be less effective in living with faith. We will be more prone to rely on our own strength rather

than on our Father’s.

During the month of November we often look forward to gathering around a table with family and

friends and sharing a special meal together. I hope you will hear my invitation and accept the opportunity

to “Come to the Table” this week. The table is set, a place is ready for you, your family needs you and

whether you realize it or not, you need your family. “Come to the table…”

God Bless, Pastor Jeremy

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
“Changing Seasons of Our Lives” . . . was the theme of the Ladies’ Legacy Night
October 7, with women from several churches enjoying the evening. Lora Jones spoke to us of her changing life during the past fifteen years, following the accident that claimed the lives of her family members, and of God’s faithfulness to her. She compared our lives to characters in Scripture, as examples of how God is faithful throughout generations. We enjoyed the story of “It Is Well with My Soul,” before singing the hymn together. For Mission Moment, we heard an update about Christian Light School and the dire situation In Haiti, before praying for Sherrie Fausey and CLS.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

As we continue together through The One Year Women’s Friendship Devotional, the theme for the week of October 16-28 will be “Gaining Strength from Scripture.” Questions we might find answered that week are: “What Scriptures have helped you through a tough time?” “Have Scriptures ever helped you overcome fear…?” “Have you given a Bible to someone out-side your faith circle? If so, what happened?” “Would you give your personal Bible to a stranger…?” “The principles of the Bible are the groundwork of human freedom.” ~ Horace Greeley (1811-1872)

Ladies' Legacy Fall 2019

Unsung Heroes of FSBC

Lots of behind-the-scenes jobs get done on a weekly, and even daily, basis at FSBC. All summer we noticed the lush, newly mowed green grass surrounding our church, blooming plants in the flower beds and pots, and a parking lot with no trash lying about. Trees are kept mulched and manicured, and even replanted after a windstorm. Areas inside the building have been upgraded, such as restrooms and water fountains. Someone keeps an eye on the doors for our safety during morning services. These are just a few of the tasks accomplished by Rick Keating, our “unsung hero” at First Southern Baptist Church for this month. ~ A Thankful FSBC Member
