CITY HARVEST FOOD DRIVE Sunday, September 11th - Wednesday, October 19th
Food Needed: All types of kosher canned or nonperishable, sealed
or packaged food are acceptable for collection. Non-kosher food will
not be accepted for this food drive. All food donated must have one
of the following Hashgachot: O-U, O-K, Chof-K, Star-K.
Most Needed Foods: Shelf-stable, Kosher
sources of protein, such as: tuna, salmon,
sardines, peanut butter, beans, soy products.

Women and Children's Clothing Swap
Saturday night, September 10 from 8:30pm - 10:00pm in the Social
Hall. Use driveway entrance slightly north of the building. Donations
and volunteers needed. All seasons. All sizes. Maternity, nursing and
baby wearing items welcome. No toys, gear or furniture please.
Stroller parking and nursing room available. While this is a kid friendly event children must be supervised. All leftover items will contribute

Riverdale Community
Infertility & Pregnancy Loss Support Groups,
Co-Sponsored by RJC and The Bayit
New monthly support groups for Infertility and Pregnancy Loss, for
WOMEN ONLY, will be starting in August. Both groups are open to
the entire community. All groups will meet at the Riverdale Jewish
Center, 3700 Independence Avenue, Riverdale NY 10463.
The Infertility group will meet in the RJC board room on the 2nd
Monday of each month from 7- 9pm. (Meetings started on 8/8).
The Pregnancy Loss group (co-sponsored by NechamaComfort)
will meet in the RJC board room on the 3rd Monday of every month,
from 8-10pm. (Meetings started on 8/15).
RSVP is not necessary, but is appreciated. Groups will
always meet, regardless of the size.

Coping with Conception: A Men's Group for Dealing with Infertility Issues
“Coping with Conception” will be meeting the first Wednesday of each
month at the Beatman Center, 521 W. 239th St., from 7:30-9:00pm. First
meeting will be Wednesday, September 7th. The group will be
co-facilitated by Rabbi Steven Exler and Dr. Josh Altman, Ph.D., LCSW. Its

HIR Community Choir The H.I.R. Community Choir starts its 15th season with

us their story - leaving their villages in Ethiopia to live in Jewish communities, and their deep yearning to join their families in Israel

LAMDEINU: School is back in session and so is Lamdeinu! Gear up for the Yamim Noraim with our Early Fall Schedule
beginning Monday, 9/12/2016. Dean Rachel Friedman will be teaching Parshanut HaMikra Bereishit: Avot ve-Imahot on
Mondays. Tuesday mornings will feature a special three-part High Holiday Series taught by Dr. Chaviva Levin and Dean Rachel
Friedman. R. Daniel Fridman is teaching Masekhet Kiddushin on Tuesday afternoon as well as Parashah and Haftarah Pointers on
Thursday afternoons. We are pleased to welcome R. Dr. Yitzhak Berger on Wednesday mornings teaching the timely topic of
Yonah In the Garden of Eden. Finally, R. Hayyim Angel is returning to Lamdeinu on Wednesday afternoons to teach Readings of
the High Holidays: Torah and Haftarot. And looking ahead, join us Wednesday morning 11/1/2016 for a celebration of Rosh

HAZON: The Jewish Intentional Communities Conference is a forum to develop a “community of practice,” where we get to
share our resources with each other. We will gain skills and knowledge from each other as we look to strengthen our own
communities. As a whole retreat group, we will engage in a facilitated exercise in mapping the many models of Jewish intentional
community as an ecosystem – examining how various styles of community each contribute to the larger, interconnected world of

SEFARIM GEMACH: Newly formed sefarim gemach based in Utopia Parkway Jewish Center is seeking out unused sefarim that
people would like to see put to good use. Sefarim will be sold at a discount of at least 75% off retail price and all proceeds will go
to Tomchei Shabbos of Queens. We will come to you to take the sefarim that we believe will sell. We do not take anything for
Geniza. Examples of the kinds of sefarim that people find useful are the English Hebrew translations of Tanach, Artscroll,
Gemarot, full sets of all Hebrew books, sets of Shulchan Aruch, Shas, Halachah, books on commentaries, famous personalities,

also drop any sefarim you would like to donate at SAR Academy at the front security guard desk and leave it for Rabbi Moskowitz.
