Epoka e Sknderbeut e shekullit XV dhe vet figura e Gjergj Kastriotit -Sknderbeut ndikoi fuqishm n jetn shpirtrore t shqiptarve dhepr rritjen e vetdijes kombtare t tyre. 2.Pr popullit shqiptare Sknderbeu bnte mrekulli me shpatn e tij. Ishte menduarse duheshin tre burra t ngrinin shpatn e tij dhe se ai mund t coptonte shkmbinjose shpoj male me t. N nj ngjarje tjetr popullore sht thn gjat negociatavepr paqe Sulltan Mehmedin II, q kishte dgjuar pr shpatn e Sknderbeut i krkoiat si nj nder Sknderbeut. Sknderbeu pranoi dhe drgoi shpatn e tij si njdhurat pr sulltanin. Njerzit e Sknderbeut pas dgjimit t lajmeve ishin tshqetsuar. Ata i doln Sknderbeut n lidhje me frikn e tyre se ai i dorzoi shpatne tij legjendare, por Sknderbeu qeshi dhe u prgjigj se ai i dorzoi shpatn e tij, porjo krahun e tij.

Familja e Kastriotve (1383-1474) kishte nj principate t vogl n maletmidis Matit dhe Dibrs, n kufirin verior n zotrimet e Topiajve. Kostandin

Kastrioti e filloi sundimin e tij mbi kt principat n vitin 1383. I biri, Gjergji, metrupat e tij, mori pjes n betejn ogurzez t Kosovs m 1389.Venediku e pushtoi Kryeqytetin e saj, Krujn m 1392. N vitin 1395, kur Gjergji evendosi e vuri serish sundimin e tij n Kruj, Venediku e shpalli armik dhe i preukokn n Durrs n vitin 1402.Pas atij erdhi i biri Gjoni, i cili e mori Krujn prsri dhe gradualisht e shtriu

sundimin e tij mbi Tirann, Matin, Dibrn dhe Mirditn, nga Prizreni n lindje,deri n detin Adriatik n perndim. Kala t fuqishme ishin ajo n Kruj,Petrela,afr Tirans, Petralben Mat, Stefigraf n Dibrn e Eprme dhe Tornak.

Nga viti 1407 deri m 1430Gjoni luftoi periodikisht me turqit, u mund 3 herdhe u detyrua t pranonte kushte t rnda paqeje. Kur turqit, me n kryeMuratin 2, e thyen at n vitin 1421, ata e ndoqn praktiken e tyre t zakonshme,duke lejuar q t mbante n kontroll t kufizuar mbi principatn e tij. Mirpo ikrkuan t paguante hara vjetor dhe t dorzonte katr djemt e tij si pengjepr garantimin e neshtrimin e tij t prhershm ndaj Sulltanit.Gjithashtu Gjonit i premtuan s pas vdekjes s tij ata do ta kthenin djalin e parq t zinte vendin e sundimtarit.
