A natural evolution of form beyond square and rectangle, hexagon is the next logical move for the design of carpet tile. And while it may be geometrically perfect with six equal sides, it’s anything but linear.

This new shape reinforces the social aspect of a space, as well as the physical and mental interaction that occurs within it. “In commercial

spaces, we achieve the best outcome when we pay respect to order and process, or implied natural proportions. Repetitive forms remain a cornerstone of good architecture and design,” says Reesie Duncan.

As a society, we depend on more connection points than ever before, and our workplace reflects this. “Today, nothing is linear,” Reesie adds. “Hexagon creates more

connection points and removes the linear path. It will change the way people move through the space, to develop social communities that facilitate networking and collaboration. We often see our customers create angular, organic seating areas or workspaces. Now, Hexagon allows for a similar system to be implemented on the floor.”

There are limitless ways to install Hexagon, yet there is a constant, rhythmic pattern that occurs from the geometric blocking of the tile. The palette is designed in a color wheel of related values and nuances of tone. Color families can be combined in groups of three tonal values to create unique social hives of color on the floor. This concept encourages unlimited connections, combining colors and patterns to create an interconnectedness among the inhabitants of the space.
