Holy Week and Our Adoration Chapel
Holy Week is the Church's most special prayer beginning with the Mass of the Lord's Supper on Holy Thursday (March 29th) at 7:00 pm followed with the Passion of the Lord on Good Friday at 3:00 pm (March 30th), and concluding with the Easter Vigil at 8:00 pm on Holy Saturday (March 31st). These are special days of prayer for the whole church but also for us individually.
The presence of the adoration chapel provides an additional opportunity for individual prayer. The adoration chapel will be open all day and all night after the Holy Thursday service until the Easter Vigil at 8:00 pm on Saturday with the exception of the Good Friday prayer at 3:00 pm when we gather to pray as a community. It would be especially helpful if you could sign up for Thursday evening, Friday, and Saturday either in the chapel, on the parish web site (www.hanb.org), or by calling the Parish Center at (262) 786-7330.
Holy Week at Holy Apostles
Holy Week begins with Palm Sunday (March 24th & 25th) when we remember the triumphal entry of Jesus into Jerusalem waving palms and listening to the Passion of the Lord according to St. Mark. The season of Lent comes to an end at sundown on Holy Thursday and we begin a three-day celebration of the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. This is the source and center of our faith and prayer. The church calls these three days the Triduum. March 29th - Holy Thursday at 7:00p – Mass of the Lord’s Supper We wash feet as part of our prayer; we take a collection for the poor, and are invited to linger in prayer with the Lord – “stay with me.” You will be invited to have your feet washed and to wash the feet of another parishioner. It’s what servants do! March 30th - Good Friday at 3:00p – Passion of the Lord We remember the crucifixion, venerate the cross, take a collection for the Holy Land shrines, and pray for the needs of so many in our world and church. March 31st - Easter Vigil at 8:00p
We gather around a fire, light our Easter Candle, proclaim the Exultant, read cherished stories from the Scriptures, bless water, welcome Erin and Ben into the Catholic Church, and renew our own baptism. We celebrate the gift and triumph of resurrection.
April 1st - Easter Sunday Masses at 7:00a, 9:15a, and 11:15a
This Sunday is THE SUNDAY of Sundays and every celebration of Eucharist draws from this celebration of the Lord’s Death and Resurrection.
Living Stations of the Cross Thursday, March 29th ▪ 1:45p ▪ Church
The Eighth Grade Class invites you to our presentation of the Living Stations of the Cross. When we pray the Stations of the Cross, we are making a mini-pilgrimage. We walk in prayer from station-to-station visiting the final places on earth that Jesus walked on his way to Calvary. In the fourteenth century, the Franciscans introduced the Stations of the Cross to meet the desire of those Christians who wanted to visit Jerusalem, but were unable to do so. All are welcome to join us in this devotion.
Easter Food Basket Blessing Saturday, March 31st ▪ 11am ▪ Church The blessing of Easter food and baskets is a tradition for many! Please bring in your Easter food and baskets to receive a special blessing by Fr. Don.

Song of Mark - DVDs Available
Consider viewing the Holy Apostles’ production of The Song of Mark on DVD. Share this experience by watching it with friends or with family!
The story of Christ's mission according to the Gospel of Mark is interpreted in song by Marty Haugen. The production starts with the calling of the 12 apostles and traverses through to Christ’s death and resurrection.
If you need a Holy Apostles produced DVD, please see Jeff Honoré or any musician after Mass. Regular DVDs are $15, Blu Ray discs are $25.
The Pontifical Good Friday Collection
Pope Francis has asked our parish to support the Pontifical Good Friday Collection, which helps Christians in the Holy Land. Your support helps the church minister in parishes, provide Catholic schools and offer religious education. The Pontifical Good Friday Collection also helps to preserve the sacred shrines.
The war, unrest and instability have been especially hard on Christians. In these times of crises the Pontifical Good Friday Collection provides humanitarian aid to refugees.
When you contribute to the Pontifical Good Friday collection, you become an instrument of peace and join with Catholics around the world in solidarity with the Church in the Holy Land. Please be generous! For more information about Christians in the Holy Land, visit: www.myfranciscan.org/good-friday.

Stewardship Reflection for March 25th
In his letter to the Philippians, our Second Reading on this Palm Sunday, St. Paul writes, “…he emptied himself, taking the form of a slave, coming in human likeness; and found human in appearance, he humbled himself, becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross.” Everything we hear today and during Holy Week relates to this statement.
For some 2,000 years scholars and theologians have debated what the phrase “emptied himself” means. As is sometimes the case, in the midst of these debates and discussions they lose focus of what is really Paul’s point and teaching perhaps. One of the things Paul might be trying to get us to think about is emptying ourselves to a certain extent. If you have ever been a retreat or been part of a spiritual exercise, you may be encouraged to “empty yourself” so you are prepared to in reality add something.
Jesus gave much up to be the Son of Man. At this point in our Lenten journey, we need to grasp that He gave up His life so that we might have life. That is what should be on our minds as we hear the Passion today and as we continue and complete our own preparation for Christ’s resurrection on Easter.
Have you ever heard someone say about someone else “He (or she) is so full of himself (or herself)?” Jesus was not “full of Himself.” He emptied Himself, and that is something we, too, must strive to do to be His disciple.

Pastoral Council Nominations
Each year, three vacancies open up on Pastoral Council and we need to fill the seats at the table. A golden opportunity awaits you, or some-one you think, that would make a good choice for Pastoral Council. The discernment process is guided by the Holy Spirit through each and every one of us. It’s up to you to answer the call. Qualifications to be a Pastoral Council member are: • Be a registered member of the Parish who is baptized and 18 or older. • Be open to ideas, opinions of others, and have a concern for the whole Parish. • Be able to work with others in a collaborative effort to reach consensus. • Be ready to actively participate in one monthly meeting and an annual retreat that will change your perspective of Holy Apostles.
Pastoral Council meets on the third Tuesday of the month at 7:00 pm.
All nominees will be invited to an informational meeting before the discernment process begins. You will have the opportunity to ask ques-tions and meet current Council members. To nominate yourself or anyone else in the Parish, please fill out the form below and put it in the wooden boxes in the church, return it to the Parish Center, or contact Peg Rohrman at (317) 408-3761 or at [email protected].
