HONEY POT DAY NURSERY GARSTON OCTOBER 2017 1 NURSERY NEWS OCTOBER 2017 WHAT’S BEEN HAPPENING? We welcomed new children & their families to Honey Pot & the staff have been working very hard to make everyone feel welcome & settled! We hope you are settled too! We Raised £106 for Cracker Jacks the children wore their pajamas and donated to help raise money to support the children with Cracker Jacks! We had our very own Teddy Bear Picnic with their favorite teddys. The children had lots of fun. A group of Pre-School went on a trip to our allotment, we brought back a Huge Marrow! We used it to make cakes. The children were very fascinated by this. A Group of Busy Bee’s also went on a walk around the area to go Conker picking! They collected lots and lots! They explored the textures of Conker’s and made prints with their shells. COMING UP THIS MONTH UPCOMING EVENTS 4 th October National walk to school day We would love for everyone to share their experiences of walking to nursery with us on eyLog! 4 th October World Animal Day Children are welcome to come to nursery dressed in an animal costume, animal themed clothing or bring in their favourite animal themed object. 5 th October Sukkot The children will be learning about & involved in activities relating to this Jewish festival. 10 th October- Nursery Photographer the children can get their pictures taken, if you do not attend that day you can come in 10:30 onwards and wait. 16 th October World Food Day The children will be involved in many food related activities. 19 th October Diwali The children will be involved in themed activities relating to this Hindu festival of lights. 20 th October Halloween themed messy play with Mums session 2:30 3:30 pm 31 st October Children are welcome to dress up for Halloween, so be sure to come to nursery in your spookiest creations 31 st October Pre-School will be going on a trip Pumpkin Picking! HONEY BEES- All staff in honey bees room have worked really hard to settle in new children. Working alongside parents to provide partnership and smooth transition. We hope you are as happy as the children are!

CHILDREN’S PROGRESS DATA ANALYSIS JUNE 2017 As a whole the nursery’s strongest area of development are being imaginative, Technology and making relationship. Our identified areas for improvement are writing, numbers and shape space and measures. You will see parent challenges set by your child’s room in support of the areas for improvement.

providing spare clothes for their children.

Also, as we are an all-weather nursery there

are times where we will venture outside in

STAFF TRAINING Chelsea has just attended designated safeguarding training.

Chelsea has also just completed SENCo Training. Rachael R & Demi will be attended 2 year check training. Alison – QI SEND cluster training

MESSAGE FROM CENTRAL SUPPORT “We have just opened our fantastic new training facilities at our new Wavertree site. The training room will be used to train Honey Pot staff and those from other nurseries. Our staff will be able to access even more training now which will have a positive impact on their practices in the nurseries!”

FOCUS OF THE MONTH (SETTLING NEW CHILDREN IN) We have welcomed lots of new babies throughout the month. They have all settled great with their key group and are enjoying nursery environment. PLOD Our last focus was on Bubbles the children explored bubbles in various of ways e.g. bubble baths. Bubble blowing, bubble painting etc. they have had lots of fun exploring their sense and learning new physical movements to reach out! This also helped Annabelle to take her first steps! Well done Annabelle!

FOCUS OF THE MONTH This month we have enjoyed a pyjama day to raise money for crackerjacks charity. The children enjoyed wearing their pyjamas and bringing their favourite cuddly toy for an afternoon picnic.

We also enjoyed going on a walk around the local area to look for conkers. The children enjoyed finding them and putting them in a bag to bring back to nursery.

COMING UP THIS MONTH

UPCOMING EVENTS 19TH OCTOBER – DIWALI The children will be doing activities based on the Hindu festival of light. We will also be getting messy using lots of different coloured paints. 31st OCTOBER – HALLOWEEN The children are welcome to come to nursery dressed up as something spooky! MONTHLY FOCUS FIVE SENSES Throughout October we will be focusing on the five senses. The children are eager to explore new things by using all of their senses. SPARE CLOTHES AND COAT Please bring a bag for your child with a spare change of clothes inside. As the weather is getting colder the children will need coats. Please bring one in so we can continue to do outdoor activities during the colder months.

TOYS If your child likes to bring toys to nursery could you ensure that the toys are put in their bags on their pegs when they arrive.

PARENT CHALLENGE FAMILY PHOTOGRAPHS If possible, could you send some pictures to us via eylog or email to us of your child with their family as we are going to display these in our home corner and it may help the new children to settle in.

Babies use their taste buds and mouths to discover and explore food as well as pretty much anything they can get their little hands on.
