Deans and Faculty Members: It is our pleasure to invite University of the Incarnate Word to participate in the 2017 Texas Business Hall of Fame Foundation Scholarship Program. This year, the Foundation will award scholarships of $15,000 each to students at 25 participating universities. We expect the competition among candidates to be keen due to the sizeable pool of talented applicants enrolled at all of our participating schools. About the Program As you know, the Foundation’s mission is twofold. First, we recognize and honor the historic contributions that business men and women have made in our state. Second, we sow seeds for our future by acknowledging and helping underwrite the promise that is being demonstrated by Texas business students. We accomplish this by honoring outstanding Texas business leaders at our Annual Induction Dinner, which will be held this year on November 1st in Dallas. Additionally, we assist future business leaders pursuing their degrees in Texas schools by funding a scholarship program. It is a requirement that all final recipients be present to receive their award. We encourage you to nominate students who have varied educational and career backgrounds, demonstrate business leadership and entrepreneurial spirit and who will likely go on to make an impact on Texas Business throughout their careers. The awards are given to students enrolled at Texas universities. Application Process As before, we are requesting that you discuss this opportunity with your students and encourage them to submit an application to you. It is the responsibility of each university to collect the completed application packets, select the top candidates to nominate for consideration, and forward all materials to the TBHF office. Nominations should be submitted in electronic format only, and should include one PDF file per student. The nominees should represent the best and brightest students currently enrolled in your school. If you are aware of any entrepreneurial-focused groups or other colleges at your school with ties to business, we request that you please work with them to help offer this opportunity to those qualified and interested students. Attached you will find the fillable application form and an informational poster regarding the 2017 program. Please distribute and/or display this poster wherever you feel eligible students will be able to access it. Also, please provide the attached application form to those students interested in applying. For more information, you can find the ‘TBHF Scholarship Program’ on Facebook and access the Scholarships tab of the TBHF website.

Scholarship(s) to be awarded at your school this year: The H-E-B Scholarship We ask that each school submit exactly three applications per award. Please note that all nominations must be submitted to the TBHF office as listed on the application by March 1, 2017. Please be sure that your applications are complete prior to Spring Break for your school/students. Applications will not be accepted after the due date. Selection Process The first round of the application process is nomination of candidates by each participating University and submission of each nominee’s complete application in an electronic format. Those that are selected to compete in the next round will be required to attend an interview. One final recipient for each scholarship to be awarded at our participating universities will be selected to represent their school; however please note that participation in the final rounds of the selection process does not guarantee that a scholarship will be awarded. All interviews will be conducted on a pre-assigned date in April in Austin, Dallas, Houston or San Antonio. Each interview will last 30 minutes. Interviews will be held for your school on Tuesday, April 25, 2017 in San Antonio. This information should be shared with all of your potential candidates right away to ensure their availability.
