SPAIN AND ITS TERRITORIAL ORGANIZATION
• Spain is divided into Autonomous Communities.
• There are 50 provinces in Spain and two autonomous cities ( Ceuta and Melilla)
• Provinces are divided into smaller territories called MUNICIPALITIES ( Alosno, Cartaya….) governed by the CITY or TOWN HALL.
SPANISH GOVERNMENT

consists of the President and several Ministers
• The General Courts …Legislative./ Consists of : Congress of deputies and senate
• Courts of Law …Judicial power.
MUNICIPAL AND AUTONOMOUS GOVERNMENTS
• Town Hall: where municipals meetings are held.
• Mayor or Mayoress: is the head of the city council
• city councillors are elected by the citizens.
AUTONOMOUS COMMUNITY
• The most important legislative document: Statute of Autonomy
• Autonomous community: Parliament, Government Council, The high Court Justice
EUROPEAN UNION
EUROPEAN UNION(EU)
• is an economical and political association of 28 European countries.
• Spain joined the EU in 1986.
Advantages of belonging to EU
• Travel with a ID or passport in any member country of EU.
• Euro area was created, the euro was established as the single official currency of the EU.
