Thanks so much for the tip, but unable to save on the notepad in hosts. Error prompt said:

Cannot create the C:\\Windows\System32\drivers\etchostsfile.

Make sure that the path and file name are correct.

@ KG – You need to grant write permission to the host file first.

Right click on file, choose Properties, select Security Tab, enable Write permission and OK

Nice tip, just to add: If you are on Linux (like me xD) instead of editing /private/etc/hosts you will have to edit /etc/hosts and I generally prefer vim over nano, but that is left up

to you. On Linux, you can also just type sudo gedit /etc/hosts and that’ll bring up GEdit, which might be easier to use.

And, if the tricks stop working (maybe because vietnam blocks the IP address 153.16.15.71 as well), I have a solution which is much harder but might be a backup plan. So,

you basically need a linux server (or ask someone to borrow theirs, you can get german linux servers starting from 2 euros per month from proplay.biz) and you type this in a

terminal

ssh -D7070 [email protected]

(You have to replace username and servername.com with the right values). It’ll ask you for your password, and as soon as you are logged in, you can set firefox to use the

SOCKS5 proxy localhost, port 7070

Like that your internet is tunneled through the server, and as we don’t block facebook in germany you can then access it like you normally would, just a bit slower

cheers, pat

Patrick, thanks for the mention of proplay.biz! Is it reliable? I’ve been thinking about getting a VPN, but a VPS is much more useful, and for this kind of price, it’s very

interesting.

Try this to delete the code:

1) 1. Go to Applications -> Utilities -> Terminal

2. Enter the next command: sudo nano /private/etc/hosts

3. Use “Control” + “k” to cut the lines of code one by one until they are all gone

4. Press Ctrl + o to Save then Ctrl + x to Exit

5. Enter the next command in Terminal: dscacheutil -flushcache

To undo the command, simply do the same process than when adding these entries and comment them out by adding a “#” (without the quote marks) in front of each entries.

such as:

#153.16.15.71 facebook.com

#153.16.15.71 http://www.facebook.com

#153.16.15.71 apps.facebook.com

….

this will make your computer to ignore them. And that gives you the ability to add them back easily by remove the same “#”.

But does anybody can confirm who are the IP 153.16.15.71 from. With a quick search it seems to be own by facebook. Which is then fine.

Since adding unknown proxy address to your host file is also something dangerous to do since it will direct all your traffic for facebook through a server which can then record

all information that goes through such as password etc..

So a confirmation on the origin of the IP 153.16.15.71 would be great.

I was wondering if there is another way of uploading photos. I have over 120 to upload and they’re all high quality so it would require too many emails.

I keep trying to upload photos and it prompts me with the following:

We regret to inform you that uploading has failed. Please try again later.

Please help! It was working about 3 weeks ago, so it’s not a problem with the files I’m uploading as I have uploaded high quality photos before. Thanks!

Hello,

I’ve used this method for the past 5 months and it was worked great! However, for the past four days, whenever I log into facebook, all I get is a white background with black

text and am unable to access my homepage/newsfeed or my profile page at all. I opted for secure browsing awhile ago (https) so I am not sure if this contributed to the recent

unable-to-properly use facebook lately? I also heard that facebook is unrolling timeline, so is it possible this is aso affecting how I can (or cannot) use facebook properly?
