HOW TO GET TRAFFIC TO YOUR NEW WEBSITE So you’ve built your new Website and you’re ready to get new customers to your product or service. It should all be so easy, right? I mean the hard part is getting your website our of the way, along with the content to put on the site. Unfortunately, that’s only a part of what you need to get your website “complete.” You’re going to need a lot more than just the basics of getting your website up and content (including pictures), you’re also going to need to learn how to get traffic. This means that you’ll have to learn the basics of how Search Engines work and how you can use this knowledge to benefit your business. Search Engines are the lifeblood of most online businesses, and this will include yours too, most likely. You’ll need people to find you, naturally, via Google, Bing or Yahoo. So let’s discuss Search Engines and how they work. Everything about Search Engines work off of Keywords. These keywords are the search phrases you enter into the search boxes on the search engine’s website. For instance, if you go to Google.com and enter “blue widgets” into the search boxes, this is a keyword. This keyword will then be used to find websites that are relevant to that keyword. But, how do these search engines know if those websites are relevant to that keyword? This is where their crawlers come in. Every Search engine has what’s known as a spider, bot or crawler. These are just different names for the same thing. These crawlers will go out and crawl the website’s pages and then download a copy of those pages for the search engine’s index. The index is how they keep everything organized so that they can rank these pages based on what they believe is the best page for each spot (1-10, followed by every page after that). This is actually done through the Search engine’s algorithm. The algorithm that helps rank these pages can be extremely complicated and uses “signals” around the web to help make them even more complicated. They may find links from other websites, Social Media mentions or even PDF files, such as this one, that links to that page or website.

HOW TO GET TRAFFIC TO YOUR NEW WEBSITE

So you’ve built your new Website and you’re ready to get new customers to your product or service.

Web pages always contain hyperlinks, which are what you use to click to another page or website. You may notice that some of these links contain what is know as “anchor text.” This anchor text can be used to tell the search engines what that page is about. For instance, if you have a website about blue widgets, and a page about the blue widget x1000, you may want to link to that page about the widget x1000 with that anchor text. You can use HTML (a href code) or use a WYSIWYG (What You See Is What You Get) editor, which works just like a simplified version of Microsoft Word. If you use a “WYSIWYG” Editor, simply highlight the text you want to use for your keyword and click on the chain link icon. Using what we know about search engines, we can get higher rankings in the search engines through article marketing. Writing articles that are targeted at questions that your customers/clients already ask you will help bring you plenty of traffic. Simply write down a list of as many redundant questions that are asked by your potential customers or clients each and every day, week, month, etc. These questions will be asked as keywords when people use Google. “How can I make more money?”, “What do I have to do to get a job at Google?”, etc. – these are keywords (sometimes referred to as key phrases) that someone with answers can create content from. By simply creating this list you can come up with more ideas for articles/content than you could imagine. But the fact is, you will get a lot of traffic from these articles if you submit them to the right places. Websites such as Galoor.com are great to get targeted traffic from as these higher quality directories will allow you to get high rankings quickly. They allow you to enter links into the content that point to your own website and even use the links with anchor text to target the keywords you want. What you’re doing here is referred to as Content Marketing, although the exact term for this is “article marketing.” Creating content that’s not on your site, but points to your site is a great way to get the word out about your website so that more people can find you and more people can understand what your website is about. Galoor.com gives you the ability to quickly and easily create your content right on the site and submit it without any technical skills. We’ve simplified the process to make it easier for non-technical people.
