How to Install Open Broadcaster Software (OBS) for HD Broadcasting Step 1

Go to https://obsproject.com/download and click on icon for your operating System

Step 2

Windows: click on the “Download Installer” button

Apple: Click on the “Download for Mac” button

Installation for Windows: Step 1

After downloading the OBS software double click the OBS-Studio-18.0.1-Full-Installer.exe to start the

installation. TIP: The file will be likely saved to your “Downloads” folder or C: drive.

Step 2

Click the “Yes” button to allow the installation of OBS

Step 3

Click “Next” to start the installation

Click here if you have problems installing OBS

Step 4

Click “I Agree” to accept the Licensing Agreement

Step 5

Click “Next” to install OBS to the destination folder

Step 6

Using the default installation settings, click “Install” to continue the installation

Step 7

Wait for installation wizard to finish installing OBS

Step 8

Click “Finish” to run OBS. You are now ready to configure OBS for 720p broadcasting!

Installation for Macintosh: Step 1

After downloading the OBS software, double click the obs-mac package installer. Tip: This file will most

likely be in your “Downloads” folder.

Step 2

Click Continue to proceed to installation

Step 3

Select Macintosh HD as destination then click Continue. NOTE: Your hard drive may have a different

name than Macintosh HD.

Step 4

Click the Install button to begin installation

Step 5

A system popup window will appear asking for your password. Enter your Mac’s log in password then

click Install Software.

Step 6

Installer is now running install process

Step 7

Wait for installation to finish then click Close

Step 8

Click Move to Trash to remove installer package (THIS WILL NOT UNINSTALL THE PROGRAM)

Step 9

Click the magnifying glass in the upper right hand corner of your screen and a popup search field will

appear. Enter “OBS” in the search field and double click on OBS to run application

OBS Troubleshooting Q: I try to install OBS using the Installation Wizard, but I get an error about missing MSCVP120.DLL

and MSVCR120.DLL components and it does not let me continue. How do I fix this?

A: You must download and install the Visual C++ Redistributable Packages for Visual Studio 2013 which

can be found here: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=40784

1. Select your language and click the Download button

2. Tick the boxes for vcredist_x86.exe and vcredist_x64.exe then click Next

3. Allow files to download

4. Run the Installer for vcredist_x86.exe (do the same for vcredist_x64.exe after successfully

installing vcredist_x86.exe)

5. Click Run on the dialogue window

6. Tick the checkbox “I agree to the license terms and conditions” then click Install (You may be

prompted to allow this program to make changes to your computer, click “Yes”).

7. Wait for the components to finish installing and then run the vcredist_x64.exe installer follow

steps 5-6 again.

8. Restart your computer after running both installers.

9. Go back to the OBS Installation Wizard and follow the steps on how to install OBS on your

computer.

Q: I run the OBS Installation Wizard but get a popup saying, “Your System is missing DirectX

components that Open Broadcaster Software requires. Would you like to download them”, what do I

do?

A: Your computer may have older DirectX drivers or the drivers have not been correctly installed. Click

on “Yes” on the popup to take you to the download page, or click on the following link:

1. Select your language and click the Download button

2. Make sure no items are selected in the “Microsoft Recommends” popup. Click the “No thanks

and continue” button.

3. Run the dxwebsetup.exe installer that you downloaded

4. Click “Yes” to allow the installer to make changes, then click on the “I accept the agreement”

button then click Next.

5. Untick the box to install the bing bar, then click Next

6. The DirectX installer will now check which version you need and prompt you to click “Next”.

Upon clicking “Next”, the installer will begin installing missing components.

7. Click Finish once the installer is done.

8. Restart your computer after installing DirectX components.

9. Go back to the OBS Installation Wizard and follow the steps on how to install OBS on your

computer.
