Hi, and welcome to 2015. Hope you all had a great Christmas and are looking forward to some great motorsport. We had the AGM back in November; I would like to welcome two new members to the committee, Matt Condy and Peter Smyth. Matt will be running the website and has a few new ideas to freshen up the site. Peter has taken on the membership secretary role. Thanks guys for helping out, it’s good to see some new faces on the committee. Our first meeting for 2015 is on 25th of March at Ron’s man cave, this meeting will include our presen-tation of 2014 trophies. There will be a BBQ before the meeting and I am working on a guest speaker. Hope to see you there. HSCCV is running the first round of the Group 5 Motorkhana series at Werribee on Feb 22 and we need helpers for timing, taking entries, set up in the morning and BBQ at lunch. This is an opportunity for club permit holders to get a signature. If you can help, give me a call 0499272774. The day before at Sandown HSVoC are running a come and try day, this will be a great opportunity for those of you who would like to have a go at sprints. HSVoC have offered HSCCV members a discount of $50 on the entry fee. Supp regs are on our website. I am Clerk of Course on the day and would be great to see you there. Geoff is working on a few social events this year. After many requests, the car run to Heathcote will run again. Check Geoff’s report for details. At the end of January Vicroads introduced the new rules for the Club Permit system, one of the main points is that a Vicroads roadworthy is now required. We have had this requirement for the last three years, but it is now compulsory. The rules are on Vicroads website if you need further information. This year Phil will be keeping a check on the permit holders helping at events and attending meetings. It is up to you to do your part, so don’t be upset if you haven’t fulfilled the requirements and Phil won’t sign your renewal. With the new year upon us, it means that your memberships are now due, so contact Peter to renew your membership. You need a current club membership to be able to compete in any events. As you may know, I raced in the Excel racing series last year under AASA. This year the Victorian guys have become CAMS affiliated and are going to run in the state series, so this means getting the car ready for a CAMS log book and me getting a CAMS full licence but we will be racing at Sandown and Phillip Island. Should be a good year racing at these tracks. Excels might not sound like fun but believe me it is awesome fun. If anyone is interested in cheap fun racing, give me a call I am heading to Bathurst via Sydney for a weekend of motorsport, firstly, we are going to the V8 Super-car test day at Eastern creek, then off to Bathurst for the 12 hour race and after that I am working with V8Race on the Monday and Tuesday strapping customers into the cars. I will be ticking off one of the bucket list items, driving the Bathurst track at speed……….Can’t wait.

Secretary's Report —Phil Slater
Hello and welcome to another year of HSVCC membership, fun and motorsport.
In what is my 21st year of being a member (not consecutive) I am reminded of how much has changed
since I first joined in the early 80s. In those days we all competed in our daily drivers and hardly anyone
had a trailer. The same car was used for sprints, motorkhanas cruises and car shows and in my case my
Cyan Blue LJ GTR XU-1 Torana was up for the job. I even raced it in what was then the dominant class
of Road Registered which had two full fields at State Race meetings. Many others in the club raced their
road going Toranas, Monaros, Kingswoods and early Commodores and drove them home afterwards. We
competed at tracks that that are no longer available such as Hume Weir, Morwell and Lakeland Hill-
climbs, Calder Park and Alexandra Speedway. In those days the Group Five Series included autocrosses
as well as sprints and hillclimbs. As well as the tracks that are gone there are the people; some that have
left the club and others that have gone to the big racetrack in the sky. There were many characters and I
miss them all but we have new members, new characters and new cars so let’s hope that we get some
new tracks eventually.
Phil Slater
Phil in the XU-1, back in the day….I can tell you he was managing to have fun AND be bloody
competitive all at the same time!

Editors Report —Kim McConchie
Hi everybody, Happy to be back in the privileged position of Editor for one more year, I just hope everyone feels the same! Its been a bit of a messy start to the year, with PC problems killing the first attempt at putting the mag together for January—hence the late publication this month. Still have a couple of things to clean up—the Club Calander should look a bit more respectable next month, to ensure you are looking at the most re-cent please check the website, Matt has got it pretty much up to date the last time I checked it. I will be trying for some new looks for the mag this year—I think the cover design dated back to some-thing I knocked together years ago when we first went to email distribution, and some of the internl for-mats are up for a rethink as well. Any feedback, suggestions, or donations to a good cause (Yr Humble Editor, now unemployed and living on stale saladas and tepid water from the pond) are welcomed; and of course, articles are ALWAYS appreciated! Cheers, Kim.

Welcome to a new year. It is bound to go as quick as last year did so let’s get cracking and have a good one ….. Over the Christmas break Marian and I drove to Brisbane via Bathurst. We stopped at the Museum and had good look around a great collection of racing history, cars, bikes, paintings, photos and a few famous names - Brocky Brabham and many more. This museum is a must to see. What else is there to do in Bathurst? That’s right .. do a few laps of Mt Panorama at 60 kph. It was hard work but the VE sports wagon handled it .

The Black Saturday Remembrance Cruise organisers are hoping for a good turnout on the day, and with all proceeds going to local CFA’s its certainly support-ing a good cause. A few club members were at last years cruise, and it’s a good reason to get those garage residing cars on club permits out and on the road. Also coming up on Feb. 8 is the annual Picnic at Hanging Rock, organised by the Macedon Ranges & District Motor Club. It gets bigger and bigger each year with some great individual and club displays. See their website for details: http://www.picnicathangingrock.com.au/ Another one coming up is the Keilor Rotary Car and Bike Show, could be worth a look if you’re out that way.
