• Predicts an “active to extremely active” hurricane season
• More than 11 storms are estimated to developed

What is the cause?
• Atmospheric changes:– No strong winds are likely to be around to weaken
the storms– Temperature of the Atlantic Ocean will be about 4
degrees warmer than usual

What action has been taken?
• Local and state officials creating plans for shelters in south Texas
• School district asking for additional funding to be able to purchase showers and generators
• Governor held Hurricane Preparedness Conference in May

• Create a plan for your family• Have an emergency kit• Prepare to evacuate (house and vehicle)• Create evacuation routes

Communication during the storm…
• Phone services might go out, discuss secondary communication method
• Research devices that do not depend on phone lines
• Make an emergency contact list just in case you cannot access your contacts on your phone
