We started out our project with a discussion about the definition of a private and a public area in an inflatable plastic construction. We came to the conclusion that the easiest way to separate public and private in a basic structure is by leveling the different areas and also focusing on the entrances. How does one get inside it and in which way does the getting-in communicate the purpose of the dwelling to the public? That was our starting point.

We sketched different conclusions to the idea of a big public space and a small private one. The design we liked the most was one of an entrance with two separate passages leading to two areas; one small and high and one big with plenty of space to utilize.

Through our designs we came up with the idea of two spaces, one being the negative of the other. While one is experiencing our structure one can choose to go inside a small private space which is inflatable from the inside. In other words, one will experience a private area and be part of the plastic structure. The other room is an outside space inside a circular inflatable inside space. In this area one is still experiencing the plastic but from another perspec-tive. The two spaces are exactly the same size but inversed, one is concave and one’s convex.
