cORDERING TIPS FOR PHOTO ID BADGESConsistency is the key to a professional Photo IDProgram, make sure:

1. Original order photo file settings are written down;resolution, image size, image orientation, distance fromcamera, background, etc.

2. Use these settings for subsequent Photo ID orders

3. Save and send the file in CMYK. We can convert RGBimages to CMYK, but color shifting will occur.

4. When taking the photo – remember to keep the samelighting and background.

5. Name the photo file the same as the name of the per-son. See example below.

6. Use the digital personalization guidelines on page 81.Here is a sample of a spreadsheet with additional col-umn for the name of the photo included.

TIPS FOR USING MAGNETS AS VEHICLE SIGNS1. Magnetic sheet can be distorted (especially at hightemperatures) if handled incorrectly. It must be kept flator rolled with the magnetized side in.2. Avoid wrinkling! Store magnetic sheeting signs in aroll with an inside diameter of no less than 4 inches withprinted surface on the outside. its a good idea to storesigns inside a cardboard core or tube for protection.3. The vehicle surface should be clean, dry and waxedprior to applying sign.4. Do not apply a magnetic sign to a newly re-paintedvehicle. Wait a minimum of 90 days. Also wait 2 daysafter waxing a vehicle.5. Make sure the entire surface of the sign is against asteel surface with no existing air pockets or body putty.6. Remove sign from vehicle at least once a week andwipe dry both the vehicle and the sign.7. Clean the surface with a mild detergent in warmwater.8. Some metallic (metal flake) paint finishes can beaffected by magnetic sheeting. A slight discolorationmay occur under the magnet.9. Always remove the sign by lifting the center of twoopposite sides. Never start at the corners. This will avoidbent corners and reduced adhesion.

We can laser engrave halftones from photos or logos, but note that the effects on wood can be very subtle. The laser engraver interpretsblack as 100% power. White is 0% power. So naturally anything in between will be laser engraved with a power in between. In samplesbelow you can see the difference in results using the same power or grayscale.

ARTWORKThe best results are achieved by sending us electronic artwork. Anyscans should be a minimum of 1200 dpi. See checklist below for speci-fications. We prefer to receive EPS or TIF electronic images. We willresize artwork to fit desired product. HALFTONESHalftones must be provided electronically. If a black and white stat isthe only artwork available, an art charge will apply to the order. Wereproduce halftones at 65-85 line. We screen print traditionalhalftones. Halftones cannot be reproduced with metallic inks.Halftones on wood products will drastically change the appearance ofthe artwork. ARTWORK CHARGESArtwork charges may be necessary if additional time is required tobring artwork up to acceptable standards. We bill artwork charges at$100.00g/hour with a minimum charge of 15 minutes. If you areadding photos to any product, please contact customer service regard-ing detailed digital photo requirements.COPY & COLOR CHANGESChange of ink color within an order, add $40.00g. With the automation of personalization has come some additional issues that need to be addressed when ordering your personalizedproducts. If a name and/or title is too long, what should we do? There are several options:

1. Condense the information 2. Truncate the information 3. Abbreviate parts of the informationThe choice is yours. We will discuss your options for your particular requirements. Condensing is the most popular option, since it leavesall the information intact. Note the change in readability, however:

Truncating your imprint will cut-off the information at the end of a line. For example if Stephanie Johnson wanted her title VicePresident of Sales and Marketing on her badge. We may end cutting off many letters off her title because there isn’t sufficient room onthe badge. The last choice is abbreviating the information. For example her title could be shortened to VP of Sales & Mktg.

Available on nameplates and signs. Add 20% to sign or nameplate prices for these typestyles.Engraving typestyles can be italicized at no additional charge. Specify ALL UPPER, all lower or Upper and Lower Case when ordering.

ENGRAVED NAME LISTSName lists should be provided in a text format, Notepad orWord document on disk or via e-mail. Each line is equal to aline of personalization. The file shown would be for a two linebadge with the name on first line and title on the second line.Please note that we will print the text exactly as you send it.Example: pETERSON will engrave exactly as typed. Our Release Program makes it easy for you to order the small quantities of products that will arise after you place your initialorder. On your initial order extra product is imprinted, paid forand placed in our online inventory system for later release.When you are ready to order more personalized product, simplygo to www.badgerelease.com to enter the names required intothe predefined fields and submit your order.

There is no shipping charge or invoice when products arereleased and there is no minimum quantity to be released ineach shipment. We will keep your product in stock for 2 years.After 1 year of inactivity, your program will be closed. FAX ORDERSOrders by FAX should be typed in a legible minimum 12 point typeface and need not be confirmed by mail. Our fax is on line 24 hours.

REPEAT ORDERSRepeat orders should include our original invoice number and date toensure exact duplication. Artwork is kept for 2 years, after that timeit will be necessary to provide new artwork and new setup chargeswill apply. PMS match charges will occur with reorders.
