WHAT IS THE NCIDQ EXAM?

• NCIDQ stands for the National Council for Interior Design Q gQualification.

• Tests minimum entry-level competence in interior design y p gand focuses on those specific aspects of interior design that affect the public’s access, health, life safety, and welfare.

• Used by NCIDQ’s member boards as a basis for licensure and reciprocity across North America.

• Only examination used by all U.S. and Canadian boards.


The NCIDQ examination identifies that Certificate holders have Qsuccessfully achieved the level of competency in such knowledge areas as:

• Analysis of client goals and requirements

• Application of life safety codes and accessibility regulations y y g

• NCIDQ will notify you when your application has been Q y y y ppaccepted and you have been cleared to register for each exam.

• The exam is administered by Prometric.

• Log on to Prometric site and register for each exam, however note that the registration for each exam opens at different times.

Five-Year Time Limit FOR EXAM COMPLETION

• Once you begin testing, you must complete all three sections within a five-year window.sections within a five year window.

• If you started taking the exam in 2010 or later, you must attempt at least one section of the exam within five years of being approved. Scores older than five years are voided and you’ll have to retake these sections.
