PROTOCOL_OVERVIEW Beginning in the spring of 2016 there will be two major systems providing information for the College of Architecture: The public web-site for anonymous users including prospective students, parents, research partners, funding agencies, etc, and the new Protocol intranet portal, accessible only by internal users (faculty, students and staff). Protocol provides a new means of internal communication that invites all members of the COA to share their current interests and activities, administrative documents, program descriptions, course information, student work, and other documents for review and collaboration. Acting as a repository for all current activities in the College of Architecture, Protocol will allow all internal users to easily access the documents and services of the College. In addition to communication activities, Protocol will also help in generating administrative reports, accreditation materials and material for the COA website.

Overview

Protocol is organized into six major headings: Administration The administrative tab provides access to forms and information regarding the administrative procedures and guidelines for the College including: the organizational structure of the College, faculty procedures and deadlines, academic calendars and schedules, syllabus guidelines and templates, new course proposal form, advising procedures, independent study forms, forms for field trips, admissions and recruiting activities, and forms and procedures relating to the office of budget and finance. Academic Programs Information on each of the College’s academic programs is accessible via the interactive College curricular diagram under the Academic Programs tab. Here, users can access an overview of the various degree programs, see educational objectives of curricular strands, access individual course information and syllabi, and view student work completed for individual courses. People The Protocol people tab provides a page for every faculty, staff and student member of the College. Users fill in current activities and other personal information. The people page is intended to help students better understand faculty areas of expertise, and help individuals find common research and/or co-curricular interests, schedules of availability, and preferred methods of contact. Communications The communications tab provides access to the College’s various media production activities including web & social media content, request forms and submission protocols; strategic plans and current projects of the IITAC Press; a listing of lectures and events; updates on student awards; and links to media archives. Resources Information on the policies, procedures and practices of College facilities including buildings, the Graham Resource Center, and the Materials shop can be accessed in the resources tab. Committees The committees tab provides access to all university and college committees and student organizations, listing current members, activities, and making available minutes of recent meetings.
