A Unity Service during the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity will be January 24th here at Immaculate Conception with our friends from Grace Lutheran Church and any other churches that wish to join us. The service will be at 7:00pm.

On Friday, Jan. 26 we will welcome our Minister Provincial, Fr. Remo DiSalvatore, who will be with us through Monday for our annual Visitation. Did you know? The next part of the Eucharistic Prayer is the offering. In this part of the prayer, the priest joins the offering of this Mass to the perfect sacrifice that Jesus made on the cross. The priest offers this sacrifice back to God the Father in thanksgiving for God's abundant gifts, particularly the gift of salvation in Christ. The priest also prays that the Holy Spirit may come upon the faithful and by receiving the body and blood of Christ, they themselves may become a living offering to God. Have a blest week. The 35th Annual Community Christmas Dinner by Bounty of Bethlehem was a success, because of you! Thank you! Time was spent planning, wrapping toys, slicing & dicing hams and turkeys, stripping herbs, washing dishes, sautéing, poking & smashing yams, decorating trees, walls, and so much more, all in the days leading up to Christmas Day. Then of course, there was the actual meal. We served over 2,400 meals that day. About half of those were sit down meals, 600 were delivered to the home bound, and the rest were take-out. The servers, music, Santa, and beverages for the delicious meal were delightful. The smiles and full hearts of all present were exactly what Bounty is all about. Bounty of Bethlehem brings people together be it for an hour of service or a hot meal. Thank you Immaculate Conception and Immaculata Catholic School, for opening your hearts, school and donations of toys, hams, turkeys, desserts, time and fortune, to the community. You are a blessing.

ST. GERARD HOUSE UPDATES:

"Helping individuals with autism and their families experience more joy and achieve

meaningful life outcomes."

Over the next few weeks, we will be sharing the story of St. Gerard House with all of you. Seventeen years ago, a miracle happened in the life of Caroline Long. After years of struggling with infertility, God answered her prayers and gave her two beautiful children. Her dad, a faithful Catholic prayed a novena to St. Gerard for Caroline to be able to conceive. On the last day of the novena, she found out that she was expecting Liam. (His due date was also the feast of St. Gerard, October 16th). Eventually, both her children were diagnosed with autism. She had faith that God gave her Liam and Bridget for a reason and she set out to untangle autism. Seeing how many families were in the same boat, Caroline was encouraged to assist them in finding help. However there were very few services. It was through much prayer and thought that the idea of St. Gerard House came about. Caroline founded St. Gerard House in 2010 with the help of Fr. Nick, and is serving children and families who are diagnosed with autism. SGH began as a mission of Immaculate Conception parish and quickly became an independent 501(c)(3) charitable organization and has never been supported by any Diocesan funds. CHARITABLE IRA DISTRIBUTIONS NOW PERMANENT: Taxpayers who are 70-1/2 or older can now make tax-free distributions from their Individual Retirement Accounts directly to a qualified charity. These qualified charitable distributions (QCDs) allow donations of some or all or part of your IRA distributions (up to $100,000 per taxpayer per year) to be made to eligible charities while excluding them from your taxable income. The QCD will count toward your annual RMD for 2017 and is retroactive, meaning that any direct distribution made to a qualified charity this year will count on your taxes. To qualify, distributions must be made to IRS-eligible charities and must be paid directly to the charity by the IRA administrator. Simply note the donation as a QCD when you file your taxes; if you exclude the amount from your income, you cannot also deduct it on Schedule A of your tax return. 3er Domingo del Tiempo Ordinario En este domingo damos comienzo a las lecturas del Evangelio de Marcos. Recordemos que celebramos el Ciclo B, y recorreremos el itinerario de Jesús de acuerdo a Marcos de la siguiente manera. El Evangelio se compone de un prólogo (Mc 1, 1-13). Éste describe la preparación del ministerio de Jesús. En los siguientes capítulos escucharemos sobre la predicación del Bautista, bautismo de Jesús y las tentaciones en el desierto, además de la revelación de Jesús como Mesías por medio de sus palabras y milagros. Después se narra el

camino de Jesús a Jerusalén, la Pasión, muerte y Resurrección. Recordemos que el Evangelio de Marcos solo tiene 16 capítulos. La misión de Jesús fue proclamar la Buena Nueva de Dios: "Se ha cumplido el tiempo y el Reino de Dios ya está cerca. Arrepiéntanse y crean en el Evangelio" (Mc 1, 15). Este mensaje recuerda lo que se les pedía a los de Nínive y ahora a nosotros, el llamado al arrepentimiento, a la conversión radical. Llamado a vivir diferente, cambiar la conducta y las malas obras. Es un sentido de urgencia, no se debe de perder el tiempo en tanta tontería. Entrar en cambio radical no es fácil, se requiere de valentía continua -el Reino tiene exigencias. ¿Qué necesito de cambiar, de arrepentirme, en orden de seguir a Jesús más fielmente? El Reino está listo en los pobres, en los inmigrantes, en los sin voz y, claro, en la familia y amigos. Para entrar al Reino hay una condición y es sencilla: ser persona de paz haciéndola vida en los demás. Mantra para la semana: ¡santificado sea tu Reino, Señor! Historia de La Casa de San Gerardo (St. Gerard House) Durante las próximas semanas estaremos compartiendo la historia de La Casa de San Gerardo con ustedes. Hace diecisiete anos, un milagro sucedió en la vida de Caroline Long. Después de algunos anos de infertilidad, Dios contesto sus oraciones y le dio a dos niños. Su padre, un Catolico devoto hizo una novena a San Gerardo pidiendo su intercesión para que Caroline pudiera concebir. En el ultimo día de la novena, Caroline se entero de que estaba esperando a su primer hijo Liam. Su fecha de parto estaba para el 16 de Octubre que es la fiesta de San Gerardo. Después de algunos anos, su hijo Liam y su hija Bridget fueron diagnosticados con autismo. Ella tenia fe de que Dios le mando a sus hijos por una razón y salió en búsqueda de ayuda. Video cuantas familias estaban en la misma situación, Caroline quizo ayudarles. Pero habían muy pocos servicios en el area. Fue por medio de mucha oración que surgió la idea de La Casa de San Gerardo. Caroline fundo St. Gerard House en el 2010 con la ayuda del Padre Nick, para servir a familias con autismo. La organización comenzó como misión de la Inmaculada Concepcion pero ahora es una organización independiente sin fines de lucro y no ha recibido ningún apoyo económico de la diócesis. LA PRIMERA COMUNIÓN El 1, 8, y 15 de julio, comenzarán las inscripciones de los niños que recibirán la Primera Comunión en diciembre del 2012, durante la Misa de Nuestra Señor de Guadalupe. Las clases empezaran el domingo, 22 de julio después de la Misa de 1:30 PM, en el Colegio Inmaculata. Los niños deberán tener por lo menos 7 años de edad. Se requiere que traigan una copia de la fe de bautismo, sin no la tienen por favor comiéncela a pedir. También podrán registrar a sus hijos en la oficina de la iglesia. Lunes a jueves de 8:30 AM a 8:00 PM y viernes de 8:30 a 1:00 PM .

KERMES

Hoy domingo, después de la Misa, tendremos la kermés del Buen Samaritano. Invitamos a todos a que vengan a participar de la diversión y la comida. Recuerden que en esta ocasión las ganancias serán utilizadas para ayudar a cubrir gastos de un retiro para los jóvenes de nuestra clase de confirmación.

Queridos Feligreses,

Paz y Bendiciones. Un servicio de Unidad durante la Semana de Oración para la Unidad Cristiana tendrá lugar el próximo miércoles, 24 de enero aquí en la Inmaculada Concepción con nuestros amigos de la Iglesia Luterana de Gracia y otras iglesias que deseen acompañarnos. El servicio será a las 7:00PM en nuestro templo principal. El viernes, 26 de enero le daremos la bienvenida a nuestro Ministro Provincial, Padre Remo Di Salvatore, quien estará con nosotros hasta el lunes para nuestra visitación anual. ¿Acaso Sabias? La próxima parte de la Oración Eucarística es el ofertorio. En esta parte de la oración, el sacerdote une el ofertorio de la Misa al sacrificio perfecto que Jesús realizo en la cruz. El sacerdote ofrece este sacrificio de vuelta al Padre Dios en Acción de Gracia por los dones abundantes de Dios, particularmente el don de la salvación de Cristo. El sacerdote también ora para que el Espíritu Santo bajo sobre los fieles y al recibir el cuerpo y sangre de Cristo, ellos mismos se conviertan en un ofertorio vivo para Dios. El Garaje del Buen Samaritano Provee muebles a ningún costo a personas necesitadas

En este momento estamos en busca de 2 choferes voluntarios y un ayudante para recoger muebles donados al Garaje del Samaritano. Los choferes y ayudantes están encargados de ayudar una vez al mes. Los choferes deberán tener una camioneta, o

una van grande para transportar muebles y colchones de tamaño queen. Los ayudantes ayudan a recoger los muebles. Si gustan ayudar, por favor comuníquense con Margret Cavagnaro al 692-1009 o con Feliciano al 693-6901. Gracias.

EL BAUTISMO Los bautizos son el primer domingo del mes, después de la Misa de la 1:30 PM. La clase de preparación, que es un requisito para los padres y padrinos, tendrá lugar el sábado a las 10 AM, en el Salón San Francisco. Por favor lleven una copia del acta de nacimiento (No se aceptan tarjetas, tiene que ser una acta con ambos nombres de los papás). Requisitos para ser padrinos: Ser bautizado y tener la intención de asumir las responsabilidades, tener uso de razón, haber cumplido 18 años, estar confirmado, haber hecho su Primera Comunión y llevar una vida de fe. Los padrinos han de ser solteros o casados por la Iglesia Católica. No pueden vivir en unión libre, ya que deben de ser modelos de vida cristiana para los ahijados. Para preguntas favor de llamar a Feliciano de la oficina al 693-6901. Los niños deben de tener la edad de 0 a 6 años. Si son mayores deberán atender la clase de la Primera Comunión y un mes antes de terminar la Primera Comunión serán Bautizados. COMO PEDIR UNA MISA Para pedir una Misa por la intención de un ser querido, difunto o vivo, llame a las oficinas de la iglesia al 693-6901 en horas laborales (lunes a jueves, 8:30AM-4:30 PM, y viernes 8:30AM-1:00 PM). Se necesita pedir la Misa con al menos cuatro meses de anticipo. Se acostumbra dar una ofrenda.

ALCOHÓLICOS ANÓNIMOS Es una comunidad de hombres y mujeres que comparten su mutua experiencia, fortaleza y esperanza para resolver su problema común y ayudar a otros a recuperarse del alcoholismo. El único requisito para ser miembro de A.A. es tener el deseo de dejar la bebida. Registrarse es muy importante para poder inscribir a sus hijos en el colegio Immaculata, para el matrimonio, para bautizos, Quinceañeras, y para cartas de recomendación (Inmigración) de la Iglesia diciendo que usted pertenece a nuestra congregación. En los archivos parroquiales estará su nombre y será fácil encontrarlo cuando usted solicite algo. Cada mes se le enviaran los sobres para la limosna con su nombre y cuando utiliza los sobres de la donación, la oficina parroquial reconoce que usted es un miembro activo de nuestra congregación. La cantidad donada no importa, su ayuda sí. El paquete de registración lo pueden encontrar en el cuarto de las novia (a un lado de baño de las mujeres), y también puede ser encontrado en la oficina de la iglesia. LA PRESENTACIÓN DE LOS NIÑOS Cada segundo domingo del mes se invita a los niños y niñas que cumplen los tres años ese mes para recibir una bendición especial, junto con sus padres y padrinos. Al igual que José y María cuando llevaron al Niño Jesús al templo para consagrarlo al Señor, también reconocemos que los hijos son de Dios, y a Su servicio y cuidado se los encomendamos. Para poder participar, deberá darle al Padre Roberto un papelito con el nombre del niño o la niña claramente escrito antes de empezar la Misa. El Padre Roberto los invitará a subir al santuario después de la celebración de la Eucaristía. INFORMACIÓN SOBRE DONDE CONSEGUIR AYUDA

Si quiere saber a donde y como conseguir ayuda para atención médica, cuidado de niños, necesidades básicas como comida, alojamiento, luz y agua, consejería, u otros servicios humanitarios, solo tiene que marcar el 2-1-1 y explicarle a la operadora cual es su necesidad. Se habla español de 3 a 7 PM, y le darán el nombre, dirección y teléfono de la agencia donde puedan prestarle ayuda. AVISO Puede conseguir muebles, ropa y artículos
