    Importing DSLR Footage

There are three ways to import video footage from a DSLR.

    1. Copy video files straight from the memory card onto the desktop via a cardreader.

    2. Copy the video files from the camera folder via a USB cable from the camerato computer.

    3. Use iPhoto to copy and store video files.

    Transcoding DSLR Footage

Most DSLR cameras encode video at H.264 standard format. This is terrible to editwith as the codec is an exhibition codec not the necessary intermediate codec neededto edit and grade with in post-production.

Any easy way to convert your footage is to use a process called transcoding by whichvideo is primed into another codec to be edit friendly.

    1. Open MPEG STREAMCLIP2. List > Batch List (or Apple Button + B)3. Click Add Files4. Select files and choose To Batch5. Select Export to QuickTime and Click Okay.6. Set Destination Folder.7. Select the settings EXACTLY as below8. Click To Batch then Go.9. Render may be slow so be patient.
