PRAISE FORDOCKYARD

The Royal Australian Navy has praised theNewcastle State Dockyard for the rent work carriedout on IlMAS VAMPIRE,

Commander of the RAN's Fleet. Rear-Admiral G.Woolrych. visited Newcastle this week to inspect VAMPIREand saki the Navy was more than pleased with the slatedockyard's perfonnance,

VAMPIRE is due to end an eight-week refit at thedockyard today, afU?r undergoing repairs to its mechanicaland electrical equipmenL

RADM Woolrych saki the refit would finish on time andwithin rosl which was pleasing to him as Fleet Commanderbecause this didn't always happen in dockyards.

He said he would have no hesitation in.sending more navalvessels to the slate dockyard as long as the work was in thecapacity of the yard.

The lender has been won completely by the dockyard andundertaken at extraordinarily short notice.

RADM Woolrych saki when the refit started, a great dealmore work was found to be needed on repairs to one ofVAMPiRE's shafts.

lie saki the slate dockyard had tackled this job and stillmanaged to rmisb the refit on time.

RADM Woolrych visited the dockyard with the t1eet·sChief Staff Technical Officer, Captain A. Robinson.

The Newcastle dockyard is ClllTt'nUy winning 50 per centof all marine repair work in Australia,
