TRANSCRIPT
2
In this unit you will find the stories of boys and girls in the Bible who had the Holy Spirit in their lives.
The Holy Spirit gave them the gifts they needed in difficult situations. Today, boys and girls are no
different than those in the Bible. They can still ask God to receive the Holy Spirit in their lives. Students
will reflect on the real experiences of those Bible characters while performing activities that help them
think about their own lives. In the culminating performance task, students will write a prayer asking to
receive the Holy Spirit in their lives. They will also be able to witness for others what the gifts of the
Holy Spirit are all about and how they can really help us become like Jesus and be His helpers.
3
Pray before you start talking about the Holy Spirit, so He can direct your thoughts, words, and actions.
Start talking and asking questions about the boys and girls in the Bible. Ask students why the Bible writers
even wrote about them for us. What is so special about these boys and girls? Can we be like them? How?
After they read each brief narrative about each of the Fruits of the Spirit and even the whole story from
the Bible about each boy or girl, have the students write about a common-life event they might face where
they will need to bear the Fruit of the Spirit to overcome that temptation or difficult situation. This unit
might take several weeks; you can do a Fruit of the Spirt each week, once a week, or a Fruit of the Spirit
each day.
At the end, there is a prayer for a boy and for a girl. Disregard the one that doesn’t match your student’s
gender.
This unit is suitable for students in grades 1 to 4. This unit can be done after a Week of Prayer about the
Fruit of the Spirit, or whenever you teach about the Holy Spirit from your Bible textbook and workbooks as
an extra reinforcement about this concept. All of the Bible verses go along with the International Children’s
Bible version.
Hand this booklet to students single-page printed, not double-sided. There is a puzzle that students need to
cut and glue on another paper and then insert it again in the booklet.
Save this booklet for Visitation Day, Back to School Night, etc. It would be great for family and friends to
see what their child is learning at an Adventist School!
Feel free to send this booklet home after the unit is completed. Make copies for your own records in order
to remember your students’ thoughts and reflections about the work of the Holy Spirit in their lives.

This unit was created by design… here is
why and how! Identification of Design Details for the Project
As Seventh-day Adventist teachers we must pursue a higher
education.
True education means more than the pursual of a certain course of study. It means more than a preparation for the life that now
is. It has to do with the whole being, and with the whole period of existence possible to man. It is the harmonious development of
the physical, the mental, and the spiritual powers. It prepares the student for the joy of service in this world and for the higher joy
of wider service in the world to come.(Education, p. 13)
True education does not ignore the value of scientific knowledge or literary acquirements; but above information it values power;
above power, goodness; above intellectual acquirements, character.
(Education, p.225)
Teaching our students about the Holy Spirit in an intentional way is a must. We all need the Holy Spirit, but we need to understand more what the fruit of the Spirit is about and why we need it as
adults and children – to use it for Son of God’s Glory and Kingdom and to be a blessing for others.
Use of the UBD Process
This unit was carefully created by design, with the end product in mind.
The end product of this unit is to teach kids about the great love of God through the Holy Spirit.
This unit is based on the Word of God, spirit of prophecy, and the
Bible standards created by the department of Education of the North American Division.
Below you will find the desired results which include what
students need to understand, be able to do and know, and the essential questions; the evidence that students understand and
the assessment for this unit. Last, but not least, the detailed action plans by day is also included.
