Vision Statement

Incarnation Parish is a Roman Catholic community centered around the Lord Jesus, a living sign of hope to all that the Word made flesh dwells among us. His presence and love is encountered in all areas of our life together, especially in the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass, in Sacred Scripture and in the Sacraments. We seek to make the Lord's presence and love known through service and edu-cation, through evangelization and through con-tinual conversion and renewal in Him. We entrust our life together and our sharing in the mission of Christ to the protection and intercession of Mary,

Mother of the Lord and our Mother.

BRING A FRIEND TO CHURCH!

FROM THE PASTOR’S PEN

Last week I was notified about Mrs. Marchan’s resignation as principal and departure from the school academy

community. I am extremely grateful to her for over a decade of tremendous Christian Leadership for the students and

families of Incarnation. Arriving as a new pastor in July of 2009 I had so many things to worry about and so much to

learn during my transition and she made it so easy for me as she was a a most competent and faithful Christian steward

of the school community.

Not only did she have the best educational interests of our young people as her focus but she also understood

from the wisdom of her years with young people that shaping a moral Christian Character in our students would also be

of great importance and benefit for them in their future years.

As a member of our Parish Staff she was always insightful and engaging at our meetings. I always found her as

pleasant as professional.

The Academy Board of Directors in conjunction with the Diocesan Superintendent of Schools has already

begun investigating candidates to be considered as the new principal. Please keep them in your prayers as they undergo

this important process for our Academy Community.

Additional parish-academy news concerns the works on our school building. The construction companies are

running a bit behind schedule because of the unusual amount of rain that fell in May. The project is now slated to

conclude on Friday, September 13. It’s not ideal timing but the results will be a new roof and needed parapet works that

will last us well through this century so we can continue to focus on the students, faculty and parishioners who use our

building so often throughout the year.

God Bless!

THE ANNUAL CATHOLIC APPEAL: FAITH AN GOOD WORKS! Please join us in our support of the various ministries and outreaches of the diocese which cannot be undertaken alone here

at Incarnation. Use the form below and simply put it in an envelope marked “Catholic Appeal,” drop the gift in the collec-

tion and the parish will send it to the Appeal Office. Envelopes are also by the doors of the church today. You may mail

your pledge directly to 310 Prospect Park West, Brooklyn, NY 11215. Our Parish Goal is 500 pledges. Please be one of

them. Give a gift today. All monies collected over goal will stay here at the parish and will go to help pay off the school

roof project. Even a small or one tine gift is both needed and most appreciated.

LIVING LIGHTS. Securing an Annual Living Light Vo-

tive Candle to Honor a Loved One, Remember a

Special Intention, or Mark a Milestone is a contin-

ual and wonderful way to celebrate sentiments and

offer intercessions of remembrance, hope and

gratitude. Two wall mounted electric candle

stands now hang in our church on either side of the newly

restored and expanded Saints’ Shrine. These unique and

inviting candles are made of real wax with electrified illu-

mination to insure your Living Light burns brightly

throughout the year. A plaque displaying the name of

your loved one, your intention, or your milestone will be

mounted before your Living Light Votive Candle. Plaques

will remain for the year you have secured your Living

Light and may be renewed or rededicated for additional 12

month periods. In addition to its rightful place before

your Living Light in the Saints’ Shrine, your Loved One,

Special Intention, or Milestone will also be included in the

Living Light Section of the Parish Website. See the blue

brochure by the church doors or contact the rectory for

The Shepherd Speaks

Jesus’ teaching on prayer continues with two par-

ables, which he modelled on the behavior of a

friend towards another friend, and that of a father

towards his son. Both are intended to teach us to

have full confidence in God, who is Father. He knows our needs

better than we do ourselves, but he wants us to present them to

him boldly and persistently, because this is our way of participat-

ing in his work of salvation. Prayer is the first and

principle “working instrument” we have in our

hands! In being persistent with God, we don’t need

to convince him, but to strengthen our faith and our

patience, meaning our ability to strive together with

God for the things that are truly important and nec-

essary. In prayer there are two of us: God and I.

MARTHA MINISTRY. Join with
