Nippon Grease Co. (Nippon Tokushu Grease at first) was organized in May 1941 to comply with the government guidance to solidify the grease manufacturing industry by merging most of the grease markers under leadership of Asahi Sekiyu. It was formed as a sole grease manufacturer in Japan aiming to produce specialty grease product. And in 1951, the trade name was changed to “Nippon Grease Co., Ltd.”

Yokohama Factory

This factory, then belonging to Asahi Sekiyu, mother company of Nippon Grease, started operation in 1939, as the first fully equipped grease manufacturing plant in Japan. The Factory has since then taken the lead in Japanese grease industry. Asahi Sekiyu merged twice to be Showa Sekiyu and lately Showa Shell Sekiyu. In 1988, the factory was separated from Showa Shell, for management of Nippon Grease. Besides Yokohama plant, Nippon Grease also had plant at Shimonoseki and Kobe.

Maintaining the proper coolant-to-water ratio is critical because coolants are designed to :– To perform optimally at specific concentrations. – Overly diluted or concentrated coolant may reduce tool life.– Resulting in using more coolant than is necessary.

The concentration will affect sump life, tool life and surface finish.
