SINCE 1919

SACMI, acronym for “Società Anonima Cooperativa Meccanici Imola” , was born in 1919, a year when the unemployment and the productive system in crisis reigned

It has been created thanks to a group of 9 visionary mechanics and blacksmiths that not only wanted to constitute a source for their sustenance and for their families, but also to have a managerial role in the mechanical industry.… It has been made up with a share capital of 4,500 liras (2 current Euros)

SACMI found its own fate after the Second World War, because one of the main companies of the region, the “Cooperativa Ceramica” of Imola, required the restoration of the machines to manufacture the tiles and that were damaged during the war.

Thereafter, SACMI began to produce a new generation of the presses and after a while kilns and a complete range of machineries for the industrial production of the ceramics.

Currently SACMI, thanks to this, is recognised as a World leader. During this period, SACMI began also to manufacture machineries to produce crown caps and shortly after packaging for food industry.

The increasing demand of quality leads to the need not to process sheets with defects, in order to save supplies, energy and process time.

The inspection of the sheets allows to give a feedback for the defects to the line, in order to improve the production process.

Without an automatic vision system it is necessary to control with manual inspection processes, then creating costs.

So, what has been our technological approach?

• Illumination: it is not possible to detect all the defects using only one image acquisition group and a simple geometry of light.

• Camera resolution: it is fundamental for the detection of defects ofsmall size, besides if it is related to the size of sheets.

• Tools: Due to the big size of acquired images, the software has to beoptimized in order to operate at the same speed of the production.

• In this case, the equipment can detect the presence of the reserve and measure its size and its movement with respect to the edges of the sheet

Simple and intuitive adjustment of system sensitivity via slide bars.

Each parameter can be adjusted using a slide bar 0 – 100 % created during the

automatic training.

Furthermore, it is possible to analyze the last 250 pieces inspected. The

values are shown from the oldest to the newest, from the left to the right.
