I. OVERVIEW
The Alumni Survey was administered to 5,053 alumni (the targeted population) in 2011-2012. Of the 5,053 alumni invited to participate in the
web-based survey, 311 or 6% responded.
Major findings:
- 57% found a job within 3 months of graduation, 17% between 3-6 months, 16% between 6-12 months, 8% between 1-2 years and 2%
more than 2 years of graduation.
- 6% reported that their starting basic salary was below 500$, 48% between 500$ and 1000$, 33% between 1000$ and 2000$, 10%
between 2000$ and 3000$, and 3% above 3000$.
- 77% are currently employed, 7% are self-employed, 221% are unemployed and 16% are also continuing education.
- Out of the employed alumni, 89% are employed in the private sector and 11% in the public sector.
- 30% work in national companies, 32% in regional companies and 38% in international companies.
- 67% work for companies located in Lebanon, 21% in the Gulf region, 4% in the United States, 3% in Europe and 1% in Africa and 4% in
other locations.
- 5% work in mission related organizations, and 66% reported that their job is related to their field of study.
- 44% have been in their recent job less than one year, 39% from 1 to 3 years, 13% from 3 to 5 years, 2% from 5 to 10 years and 2% for
more than 10 years.
- 35% of the employed alumni have been recently promoted.
- 15% of the respondents are members of any national syndicate or order, 8% are members of any international professional association
or organization and 11% are members of any NGO or mission related organization.
The major findings in rating the LAU experience and contribution were as follows:
- 64% of the respondents rated the preparation they received for their present occupation as substantially good1; 67% rated the
preparation they received compared to graduates from other institutions as substantially good; and 71% rated the skills and
competencies that they acquired at LAU as substantially good.
- Between 60% and 69% of the respondents rated the contribution of LAU education to the acquisition of knowledge, skills, and
development in the following areas as substantial2: understanding of own capabilities, using effectively modern technology, ability to

think critically and approach new problems with an open and analytical mind, ability to communicate using professional native and
foreign languages and developing self-esteem/self-confidence.
- Between 50% and 59% of the respondents rated the contribution of LAU education to the acquisition of knowledge, skills, and
development in the following areas as major and strong: acquiring skills, tools and theories to pursue a career path related to their
major field of study, instilling commitment for life-long learning, functioning effectively as a team member, becoming aware of cultural,
social, and legal issues inherent to their discipline, developing management/ leadership capacities and developing an appreciation of the
importance of ethical decision-making in all organizational relationships.
