What is the IMABEE track ?

IMABEE is a two-year research-oriented master programme for talented and motivated students who are interested in understanding biodiversity, ecology and evolution in all their facets

It is a joint project between four European universities:

-University of Rennes1, France

-University of Göttingen, Germany

-Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, Netherlands

-University of Aarhus, Denmark


What is the IMABEE track ?If I am enrolled within the IMABEE track at the University of Rennes 1, I can choose where to go for my second year within the consortium thus, in Gottingen (D), Amsterdam (NL) or Aarhus (Dk)

If I am enrolled within the IMABEE track (12 students) at the University of Rennes 1, the teaching program will be the same as the first year of the MSc ‘Ecologie Fonctionnelle Comportementale et Evolutive’ (M1 EFCE, 20 students) and the MSc ‘Modélisation en Ecologie’ (M1 MODE, 15 students)

You are awarded a double degree from the two partner universities

(i.e. two MSc diploma at the same time)


Who can apply ?

Good and motivated students:

- Bachelor degree with distinction

- The language of instruction and examination of the study programs in the second year of Master is English (first year mainly in French in Rennes). Thus, a minimum English level is required: CLES B2 or equivalent (a valid certificate is mandatory to apply)


What can I do with an IMABEE master?

-Working in academic or private research (R&D) :

Engineers (after the master) and researchers (after getting a PhD)

-But also in associations, NGOs for nature preservation or scientific mediation for instance
