Welcome all to the very first ITG Regional Conference beingheld here, at Oklahoma City University! I am pleased to be yourhost.

As a long-timemember of the ITGBoard of Directors, Ihave been part of theexploration of newideas and events, oneof them being a mid-year, regional confer-ence. For years, the ITGDirectors and Officershave discussed ways inwhich ITG can connectmore often with trum-pet players by puttingon events in between our popular annual conference. Havingbeen an outspoken proponent of this concept, it should havebeen no surprise to me that I was “tasked” with hosting thefirst one. This conference is similar to our annual conferencein that it features solo and ensemble performances, a varietyof workshops, master classes and vendors. It differs in thatthere are no competitions or trumpet ensemble preludes. Youwill notice, however, that there are two featured recitals forthe many trumpet ensembles in attendance!

I am grateful to the Bass School of Music at Oklahoma CityUniversity for their support of this conference. Deans MarkParker and Mark Belcik have generously endorsed this meet-ing of trumpet players and I thank them for all accommoda-tions. I also am thankful for my wonderful colleagues and

students who have volunteered their time and talents tomake this conference a success.

Performers and presenters, vendors and ensembles hailfrom Oklahoma, Texas, Arkansas, Missouri, New York, andKansas. We are extremely fortunate to have the multi-talentedVince DiMartino as our main guest artist, as well as many othertremendous soloists!

We are fortunate to tap the talents of several local profes-sional ensembles, The Oklahoma City Philharmonic Brass, theOklahoma City Jazz Orchestra, and the Frontier Brass Band. Iwould be remiss if I didn’t mention the fantastic rhythm sec-tion we have booked for the two jam sessions at the jazz-friendly Saints Pub!

I hope you will all come to Saints at the end of the day for agood old-fashioned “Trumpet Hang!”
