1. INTRODUCTION

Intranet is a web based and multi user system for knowledge sharing of all the EIL’s departments. Intranet facilitates documents uploading, documents searching.

2. FEATURES

i. Intranet is a web based system. Users can access this system through Browser (Internet Explorer 6).

ii. Intranet is password protected for document uploading. iii. Intranet supports viewing of documents available in it’s repository system iv. Intranet provides facility to search a document. v. Intranet supports restricted document category Emp No wise, Location wise,

Department wise etc.

3. SYSTEM REQUIREMENT

Intranet is web based system. Intranet can be accessed through a browser with network connection in the client machine. However minimum system requirements of the client machine are as follows.

Hardware

P II / III / IV 16 MB RAM Network Connectivity

Software MS Windows 9x/XP/NT/2000/2003 Internet Explorer 6.0 or above

4. BRIEF SYSTEM DETAILS

Intranet is a web based application, developed for department information sharing. Intranet also has the facility for uploading of documents (internal circulars, manuals etc.). Online broadcasting feature is also available.

5. OPERATING DETAILS

a. Starting Intranet

i) Open browser (Internet Explorer 5.5 or above) in the client machine

and enter ‘http://intranet.eil.co.in/’ in the address bar to access the site.

b) Document Uploading: Clicking on “Upload/Edit/Delete Document” following page will display :

Departmental Administrator can upload/delete the documents. After entering correct Login Id and Password, following screen will display:

Enter Document Description, Keywords to search, Browse the file from computer and click on Add button to upload the document.

c) New Document category addition:

Following screen will come after clicking on “Edit Document Category” link:

For creating Restricted Document Category check the “Restricted check Box”, following screen will display after check box is checked:

After selecting appropriate restrictions in above screen, Click on “Add Document Category” button. Category will be created.
