Devoting time to thinking about the barriers that stop you from exercising is often just as important as actually doing the exercise itself. Becoming a regular exerciser is one of the key behavioural changes that people who have lost weight – and kept it off – adhere to.

We all know that exercise is good for us on so many levels. We all know

This guide introduces you to fundamental number 3, which is how you can transform yourself from an exercise loather to an exercise lover.

“I want to lose weight. I should do some exercise…”

How many times have you heard yourself say that? How many times has the desire to lose weight been accompanied by dread over having to do some exercise?

Now, imagine if you could change that sentence! Imagine if, instead of saying, thinking or feeling that you ‘should’ do some exercise, that you actually ‘want’ to do some exercise? How good would that feel? How great would your weight loss results be? How much more motivat-ed would you feel – and how much more mental and physical energy would you put in – if exercise was something you genuinely looked forward to?

Take a moment to stop and think

Exercising right for your personality type can save you a lot of time! It can also save you a lot of mental anguish (I could say it will save you a lot of energy – but it won’t because you’ll be expending that energy through ex-ercise, exercise that you want to do)

The super-stressful lives we all live today mean that it’s more important

than contribute to it (but stressing out about the exercise we should do but just don’t want to). When you learn how to exercise according to your Ex-ercise Personality Type (not someone else’s or what you think you should be doing) it is so much easier to achieve weight loss that lasts forever.

Being true to yourself, being loyal to your own best interests, taking care of your own needs – we all want these things in our lives, so why not in our exercise styles? But of course, being true to yourself means you need self-knowledge.

Here’s an overview of each Personality type:

The AdventurerVariety is the spice of life for you so there should never be a dull exercising moment if you change it up regularly. Studies show consistency in food choice and variety in exercise are key to weight loss success so you are the perfect person to capitalise on this with your exercise. You are moti-vated by adventure and stimulation so you can improve your workouts just by actioning your problem solving skills and thinking ‘how can I eventually manage to do that?’, or ‘how can I change this up?, ‘how can I make this exercise even more challenging and impressive’.

The ConnectorYou are very connected to those around you and require meaning and

be careful to not let this sabotage your healthy living. The greatest gift you can give your friends and family is a healthier you. You prefer exercises that are imaginative which is even better. You might even like to try exer-cising with someone else every now and then - just think of the combina-tions you could come up with!

Becoming a healthier version of yourself will continue to sustain your drive for meaning and purpose.

The MasterThe biggest challenge for you is continuing to challenge yourself.

You cannot help but want to improve and achieve. You want to be a better version of yourself. You set your own standards, which are usually very

high, but you achieve them, thriving on the logic behind the logic and the thinking behind the thinking. You need to understand the mechanics and reasons behind the purpose for each exercise and use this knowledge to

The MaximiserConsistency is the key to successful exercise for you.

Not wanting to stray too far from the plan, you like to have a set schedule for your training session and make sure you complete it.

Training is a means to an end for you so you want to make sure every exercise counts and is adding value to a healthier you.

Your favourite exercises to do will be the ones that are the most effective. A great start for you is to work with some of the exercises which give you a lot of ‘bang for your buck’.

The Maximiser

As a maximiser, you love knowing concepts and underlying principles so you can understand how things work. You always need to have a sense of empowerment on your weight loss journey. You’re theoretical and driven by the urge to progress, so your exercises should be fuelled by knowledge and competence, otherwise you’ll become bored – or, worse, overly ob-sessive – and that means you won’t see results.

For you, exercise is about being about to harness that sense of purpose-ful improvement that you so love to exude in everyday life. Exercise pro-grams where ‘you don’t have to think’ aren’t going to cut it for you, so be sure to integrate your mind when you exercise your body by constantly analysing: think about what, when, how and why things are working when you move. That way, you’ll become much more adapt at strategising your exercise routines for the future, and you’ll be able to chart your progress and improvement and motivate yourself even more.

Your love of learning knows no bounds, so if you’re a Love Your Weight Loss Member, you’ll be in your element discovering a whole world of new recipes, exercise, tips and tricks along with answers to some of those questions, like “Why haven’t my weight loss attempts worked in the past”.
