Introduction | JG, AP | 9.8.2011 The Local Computer Network at HaKa This is how you log on to one of HaKa’s PC’s: 1) Turn the computer on, if it is not already turned on. After 40–50 seconds the start display on the computer is shown: 2) Now press the Ctrl-, Alt- and Del keys simultaneously (the keys are situated on the bottom row of the key pad). After this a new display is shown on the screen: This means that the computer is now ready for you to log on to the local network. In order to log on you need a Username (also called Login) and a Password. The first time you log on the password is e2011. Your username is your date of birth and your initials combined. Example 1: Tina Holden Charles, born 05.06. 1994 has the username 0506tc3. The last symbol is a serial number, which for 99 per cent of you is the number 3 (if you were enrolled at HaKa last year, please ask the teacher). Please note that a middle name is not used. Example 2: Ibrahim Özguz, born 29.02. 1993 has the username 2902IO3. Please note that Ø turns into O. Parallel changes: Å → A, Æ → E, Ä → E, Ü → Y. Write the username and the password in the designated spaces in the above window and press the ok button with the mouse. The first time you log on you will be asked to change your password. Choose a combination of numbers and letters according to the following rules: At least one lower case letter, at least one upper case letter and at least 8 characters in total. Examples of valid passwords: Hi3monkeys”, ”Minus723”, ”Car4hire”. After 50–60 seconds the computer will be ready to use. At this stage you are at the so-called Desktop. It is from here that all programmes started (e.g. word processing, spreadsheet and programmes for specific subjects). The Desktop is shown below. Double-click the icon in the above mentioned menu. The window which appears contains some so-called network drives (shown on the right).

As a user on HaKa’s local network you have a personal drive (u:\). When you save documents, spreadsheets and other files on u:\ it is only you who can read these files, as well as change and delete them. As you can see in the window above, this user is called “test 9a”. In your window you will obviously see your own username.

This is how Word is configured

1) Double-click and press

in the window

.(name and initials must not be changed).

2) Press in the window

.

3) Press (right above the large white text space).

4) Tick in the window which has appeared and press

. Then Close Word.

This is how you log off one of HaKa’s PC’s:

1) With the mouse press in the bottom left hand corner of the desktop and choose ”Log af”.

2) In the window now press log off.

Important: Do not press the bottom symbol (“Luk computeren”).This is only to be used when the computer is to be turned off afterwards. If you turn off the computer it will take longer for the next user to log on.

Introduction | JG, AP | 9.8.2011In Lectio among other things you will be able to get information about your current timetable (as well as module movements/cancellations) and homework your teachers have set for specific modules. This is also where you will be able to see your grades and an overview of your absence.

1) Start Internet Explorer by double-

clicking . The start page is the school’s homepage:

2) Press

3) In the dialogue box type in your username and password (the same username as when you log on to the computer, as well as the password e2011) and press

. Below you can see the result for the student Andreas Clemmensen:

Now you must change your password

4) Press followed by .

5) Type in password e2011 in the box .

6) Type in a new password according to your own choice (at least 5 digits/letters) in the boxes

and and press .

7) Now press in the window

Now the window will look like this:

Look at your own timetable:

1) Click your name, which is at the top on the right-hand side of .

2) Choose the correct week in the roll-down menu .

Please note the symbol . It indicates that homework has been set for the module in question.Side 4 af 8

Print your timetable

1) Press the small picture of a printer

2) Press in the menu which appears.

Look at the timetable of another student:1) Press (is placed at the top of the window).

2) Press and choose the first letter of the student’s first name in …

3) Press the name, e.g.: and the correct week in .

View homework for a module:1) Choose the correct week on the timetable (in this example: week 33 for Louise Callesen).

2) Place the mouse over the module name in the timetable (here: ).3) The homework is now shown in a yellow box:

This is how you log off Lectio:

1) Press (is placed at the top of the window).

2) Press in Internet Explorer in order to come back to the school’s homepage.

This is how you get on to the Internet via the wireless internet

If you bring your own laptop PC with a wireless network card you are able to connect to the Internet via the wireless internet at the school (it is called ELEV_NET).

1) Under ‘Netværksforbindelser’ → ‘Trådløse netværk’ choose to establish connection to ELEV_NET. It is not encrypted, so you do not need to type in any password.

2) Open a web browser (e.g. Internet Explorer or Mozilla Firefox) and type in http://www.haderslev-katedralskole.dk/ in the address box. Then you will be redirected to the following display (see the next page):

1) In the space you are to write elever.

2) In the space you are to write haka2010.

3) Press .

4) If somewhere alone the way you are asked if you want to install a certificate, then do this.

This is how you view your absence statistics in Lectio

You must write the reason for any absence in Lectio, and this is to be done every time you have been absent from school. Below you can see a guide to absence specification. Please note that you have five options in the roll-down menu with ‘Årsager’ (i.e. reasons). You have to indicate one of them as well as elaborate on the reason in the ‘Kommentar’ box.

When we talk to students about their absence, some make the excuse that their code to Lectio does not work. It is your own responsibility to have a code to Lectio that works, and if you experience problems with your codes, you immediately have to address Flemming in the secretaries’ office in room 31.
