Colorectal cancer:

•  Second most common form of cancer in Europe (2.9 million new cases/year)

•  Surgical treatment: resection of the affected bowel and suture of the extremities to restore the normal transit (Anastomosis)

•  Most feared complication: ANASTOMOTIC LEAKAGE (up to 23% of cases à mortality 39%)
