ISC202 Quick Start Guide

The ISC202 is delivered with a general purpose default setting for programmable items. (Default settings are listed in Section 5 and again in Chapter 11). While this initial configuration allows easy start-up, the configuration should be adjusted to suit each particular application. This guide provides information on preparation, wiring, programming, and initial calibration of the system (only if needed). It is not intended to be a comprehensive resource, but a supplement for the ISC202 Instruction Manual. Instrument Check: Upon delivery, unpack the instrument carefully and inspect it to ensure that it was not damaged during shipment. If damage is found, retain the original packing materials (including the outer box) and then immediately notify the carrier and the relevant Yokogawa sales office. Make sure the model number on the text plate affixed to the side of the instrument agrees with your order. Example of a nameplate is shown below:

Installation and Wiring: The EXA ISC202 analyzer is weatherproof and can be installed inside or outside. It should, however, be installed as close as possible to the sensor to avoid long cable runs between sensor and transmitter. In any case, the cable length should not exceed 60 meter (200 feet).

The ISC202 analyzer can be installed with by pipe, wall or panel mounting. Actual dimension drawings can be found in the Instruction Manual section 3-1-2 on page 3-1. For measurement operation the ISC40 Inductive conductivity sensor and proper installation sub assembly should be purchased separately. A schematic is shown in the figure below of system configuration.

Wiring: For detailed wiring instruction refer to section 2.4 in the Instruction Manual on page 2-13. Generally, transmission of signals from Inductive Conductivity sensors is at a low voltage and current level. Thus a lot of care must be taken to avoid interference. Before connecting sensor cables to the transmitter make sure that the following conditions are met:

• the sensor cables are not mounted in tracks together with high voltage and or power switching cables.

• only standard sensor cables or extension cable are used. • the transmitter is mounted within the distance of the sensor cables (max. 10 m)

+ up to 50 m WF10 extension cable.

• the setup is kept flexible for easy insertion and retraction of the sensors in the fitting.

Below is the wiring diagram for the ISC40 sensor. To connect the sensors, simply match the terminal numbers in the instrument with the identification numbers on the cable ends.

Below is the wiring diagram for sensor cable connections using junction box (BA10) and extension cable (WF10).

Preparing the ISC202 Analyzer: While the initial configuration (Factory Defaults: general purpose default setting for programmable items. (Default settings are listed in Section 5 and again in Chapter 11) allows for easy start-up, the configuration should be adjusted to suit each particular application; the following steps should be taken to commission the analyzer. Section 5 in the Instruction Manual is for Parameter Settings.

1.) Remove the front cover of the ISC202. Press the key and press until

SERVC is displayed. Press to enter the Service menu.

2.) Enter Service Code 10 by pressing until the display shows 10, press .

3.) *T.SENS will appear, press until the display shows 1 (if you are using a sensor

with a Pt1000 temperature element), press until the message display shows *SERV . If you are using a sensor with a 30K NTC, leave this setting at 0. 4.) Calibration of conductivity instruments is normally not required, since Yokogawa delivers a wide range of sensors, which are factory calibrated traceable to NIST standards. The cell constant values are normally indicated on the top of the sensor or on the integral cable. These values can be directly entered into the analyzer.

If the instrument display already reads *SERV, press to enter the Service menu.

Otherwise press the key and press until *SERVC is displayed. Press to

enter the Service menu. Enter Service Code 03 by pressing and ,

press . Using the and set the value to the nominal cell constant

valvue found on the sensor, press . (The default value in the ISC202 is 1.88.) 5.) To avoid cable influences on the measurement, a ‘zero’ calibration with a dry sensor may be done. If a connection box (BA10) and extension cable (WF10) are be used, ‘zero’ calibration should be done including this connection equipment.

If the instrument display already reads *SERV, press to enter the Service menu.

Otherwise press the key and press until *SERVC is displayed. Press to

enter the Service menu. Enter Service Code 04 by pressing and , press

*AIR will appear on the display, press to confirm selection. *START will appear on

the display, press to start, after briefly dispalying ‘*WAIT”, *END will be displayed.

press to return to commissioning mode.

6.) If the instrument display already reads *SERV, press to enter the Service menu.

Otherwise press the key and press until *SERVC is displayed. Press to

enter the Service menu. Enter Service Code 11 by pressing and ,

press . *T.UNIT will appear, using the set the value to 1, for °F, press . (The default value in the ISC202 is 0, for °C).)

7.) Press to return to the home screen. Ranging the Linear 4-20 mA Output:

1.) Press the key and press until SERVC is displayed. Press to enter the Service menu.

2.) Enter Service Code 31 by pressing and until the display shows 31,

press . 3.) *OUTP.F will appear, the ISC202 is defaulted with a 0 for linear output. If the unit does

not display a 0 press until the display shows 0, press .

2.) Press the key to return to measuring mode.

3.) Press the key and press until

*OUTP is displayed, press .

4.) *0% will appear on the display. Pressing

and set the 0% to correspoond to

the 4 mA Conductivity value, press .

5.) *100% will appear on the display. Pressing

and set the 100% to correspoond to

the 20 mA Conductivity value, press .

6.) Press the key to return to measuring mode. For setting up Concentration curves, please refer to the Instruction manual section 5 Parameter setting, page 5-17. This completes the basic commissioning for the ISC202 analyzer. Proper Configuration of ISC40G sensor in Normal Operation:
