Schools Spectacular 2019

Schools Spectacular unites kids to be a part of the biggest performance of their lives. 389 New South Wales Public Schools featured in the 2019 Schools Spectacular. Maeve Sparrow, who is a fire juggler in the show, said she was looking forward to performing at such a large-scale event. This is an opportunity not commonly available in Western NSW. Holly Faulds was part of the Aboriginal Dance Company that performed an excerpt from “Unaipon” to celebrate the life of David Unaipon, a Ngarrindjerri man of the Warrawaldi clan.

The school welcomed the Year 11 2020 students last week for the annual Transition Week. Students experienced their courses, became oriented with staff and of course, the Year 12 cohort. This is an important opportunity for students transitioning to the Senior Campus to ensure they have made the most considered subject selection choices and also engage as valued members of the Senior Campus community.

I had the pleasure of visiting many of the lessons and was impressed by the level of participation of all students. It was abundantly clear the communication device policy has had a significant positive affect on the student learning.

The Senior Campus will transition to an updated Communication Device Policy from day one 2020. I have penned a letter to all parents outlining the policy which has also been emailed. These procedures have been communicated to all Year 12 students this morning. We look forward to Year 12 students also experiencing the benefits of the policy to support teaching and learning in all classrooms and maximising study opportunities.

Year 12 students have now completed their first term of HSC courses and first HSC School based assessment. This may have been a stressful experience but now they are submitted, it has become rewarding. With the upcoming holidays, it is an opportune time for Year 12 students to set their goals for 2020. These will be the very last Christmas holidays for Year 12 as school students. Spend time with family and friends, stay safe and have fun.

As this is the last newsletter for the year, may I take this opportunity to wish you all a safe and joyous festive season, and I look forward to continue ensuring our collaborative work endeavours to enhance our school.
