Hygiene is the key

The Prep - 2’s have shown us that great hygiene is second nature now. Grade 1 student, Aliana said “I wash my hands after everything I do, I use soap and water or I

use the sanitiser in the classroom. I don’t even think about it anymore, I just do it” Great work Prep - 2’s, you are setting a wonderful example to everyone.

Principal’s Report

How did you do it? How did you manage to juggle your daily commitments during the Flexible and Remote Learning Program? How did you squeeze in your work and your day-to-day obligations whilst helping or supervising your child at home?

As parents and carers you have done a marvellous job to balance eve-rything that has been thrown your way during the COVID-19 crisis. Stories abound of the lengths you have gone to in order to assist your children and to clear the way for them to continue being engaged through Webex and hard copy whilst managing your many other com-

mitments. I can only say a very strong and heartfelt thank you to the parents and carers who have prioritised their child’s learning, provided the support, time and space for them whilst managing your own affairs. You have been fantastic. It would be wonderful to hold a school barbecue or gathering to celebrate achievements however, COVID-19 restrictions still apply at this stage. We will be welcoming the Grade 3-6 and the Year 7-9 students back on Tuesday. After some catch-up with friends time, the Year 7-9 students will be meeting to discuss the new hygiene requirements then they will be having an extended home group to talk and reflect. Then, it will be down to work in period 2. So the return will be welcome, talk, learn. I am sure that the excitement of returning on Tuesday will be as evident as that of our younger and older students last week.

Tomorrow will be Day 37 of Flexible and Remote Learning for our Grade 3 through to Year 9 students. You have made it – your last day of remote learning from home. Enjoy the long weekend and return to school fit and refreshed on Tuesday. We are all looking forward to seeing you again.

It is time, also, to reflect on your experiences whilst learning remotely. What did you learn? Did you follow a timetable? How much ‘school’ time did you do? Did you work better at home? What could you have done better? Will you be able to show your teacher how well you learnt the materi-al when you return? Lots of questions and, hopefully, you will take some time to think through your achievements and

share them on Tuesday.

Reminders and Additional Information School photo envelopes go out on Tuesday when everyone returns to school. School Council meeting via Webex on Wednesday 10th June Monday 8th June is the Queen’s Birthday holiday. Thanks to the Year 10 & 11 students and Mrs Wright for running the assembly earlier this

week. Maintenance continues here at the College with a series of minor damages being repaired

and more grounds work underway.

G’day Everyone,

I’ll be working with the Youth Action Council to come up with some amazing ideas and activities to do post these crazy covid times we’re currently in.

The Youth Action Council is made of 12-25 year olds from the Yarriambiack Shire, they work together to create programs and activities to engage young people aged 8-25.

If you are aged 12-25 and would like to join the Youth Action Council and be part of our team feel free to send me an email or message for more information email: [email protected] phone: 0429 941 083.

We have monthly meetings and our next meeting will be at 6.00pm-7.00pm Wednesday the 17th of June, 2020 at the Warracknabeal Shire Council Office or via ZOOM. I’ll be in touch with anyone who is interested.

Moving forward we would like to hold meetings in a variety of towns or look at online participation, so please don’t hesitate to get in contact even if you live outside of Warracknabeal.
