ISU Arboretum PROPOSAL: THE CONSERVATION OF THE IOWA STATE ARBORETUM
BY: CARSEN GROTH, THOMAS BURGART, SITTINON NEUTHONG
Step 1 : Get The Word Out - Start a new ISU organization
- Advertise the arboretum in order to make people know more about the arboretum
and explain why we want to change to make it better
- Expected members:
- Plant science
- Agricultural
- Landscape architecture
Step 2: Fundraising Meet with Iowa State about some funding and educational opportunities.
-The Government of the Student Body (GSB)
-Propose idea to the GSB
-Host 5k run/walk through campus to help raise money
Step 3: Renovate the Land- Clean up the land (Trash, brush,
etc.)
- Trail throughout the land
- Build at least three shelters (Roughly $4200)- Good for picnics and small
parties- Possibly Concerts
Step 4: Have a reason - Taking full advantage of the opportunities that the arboretum has to offer
- Giving students another place to go, ISU is only getting bigger
- Iowa State is among the top 5 most beautiful college campuses, why not go for the gold and be the best. The arboretum has the potential
- Many more purposes with just a few small costs
Step 5: Keeping the Arboretum alive
- Concerts in the future
- Yearly traditions (Annual event)
- Keeping funding for Student Organization
Closing Proposal:
The arboretum has so much potential and with all these steps I think that it is in reach and can easily become a useful area of land for the Iowa State student body.
