AEO certificationIn Jun 2017, UDG was granted the AEO certification honorably by China Custom.

According to the World Customs Organization (WCO), an Authorized EconomicOperator (AEO) is a party involved in the international movement of goods in

whatever function that has been approved by or on behalf of a national Customsadministration as complying with WCO or equivalent supply chain security standards.In the past, UDG was only recognized as Grade AA by China Custom. Last year, anumber of Grade AA factories were selected and assessed by China Custom for AEOcompliance. The success rate of these factories for AEO compliance through theOn-Site assessment is less than 50% in China and UDG had successfully made it.

With the official AEO recognition by China Custom, UDG is internationally recognized within the international supplychain with a quality mark in custom controls. Companies holding AEO certification have these advantages:

- Greater access to priority clearance- Reduced administration- Traceability of flows of goods- Increased transport security- Fewer delays in dispatch

We would like to take theopportunity to show ourappreciation to the UDGemployees from variousdepartments who activelyparticipated in thepreparation of the AEO audit, especially on the efficiency of procedurescompliance.

Apart from AEO certification, UDG was certified withESD ANSI2020 certification in December 2017 With

the current era of technology, more advanced packages are being introduced in the marketwith the need to be more sensitive to Electro Static Discharge (ESD) Control. ESD is thesudden flow of electricity between two electrically charged objects caused by contact, anelectrical short, or dielectric breakdown. Many electronic components can be damaged byESD during and after manufacturing, during shipping or transportation. The ESD ANSI2020certification affirms that ESD control and protection is carried out effectively and compliedwith at every necessary stage in UDG.

Going forward, UDG will plan for IATFconversion(Automotive TS16949) inMay 2018 and EAL Security systemcertification by December 2018.

For the 3rd consecutive year, UTAC (USG1) was one ofthe exhibitors at the “Temasek Polytechnic OpportunityFair 2018” held on 31 January, which saw about 80exhibitors connecting with students, giving theminsights into employment and education opportunities.

Our Assembly and Test operations were representedby managers Sanggaran and Cheong Kai Keongrespectively. They actively engaged visitors to ourbooth by giving them brief insights on engineeringopportunities and by showing them product samplesto stimulate interest.

Choong Xue Ting and Lin Wenwen were also presentas our ‘ELP ambassadors’, sharing their first handexperiences of being on the Earn-and-LearnProgramme (ELP) with current TP students who werekeen to know more about this SkillsFuture scheme.UTAC has been successfully running the ELP over 3cohorts due to the Structured On-Job-Training (S-OJT)regime we have in place. UTAC was also given theprivilege to make a presentation to the students.Manager Esteban Isidro (Sid) from Test ProductEngineering spoke on “Developments and GrowthPotential in the Semiconductor Industry”.

As we strive towards becoming the Preferred Employerfor suitable job-seekers, this fair has created brandpresence for us in the minds of young talents and willraise our profile as one of the leading OSAT providersin the world.

The UJP office is located in the Kyoto Research Park(KRP), which is consists of 400 companies andinstitutions in various field of industries in the KRP area.KRP week 2017 was held from 31st July – 6th August. Itwas an opportunity for synergy, innovation andcommunication as a KRP community event.

Ken Shibata made a short presentation and introducedUJP/ UTAC at the networking event. UTAC bannersshowcasing our business were displayed during theweek. UJP members participated in network events.Luck was with Rie Adachi as she received the first prizein the raffle draw. We all had a very good time meetingother people who work in the same location.

On 22 October 2017, UTAC Thai Limited andUTAC Family Foundation donated THB 400,000in cash for a Computer Room to be set up inthe Worradit Witayaprasut School, Ang-ThongProvince.

THE POWER OFSHARINGWe are lucky to have a job now. UID has providedthe good opportunities and really takes care us. Butwe know some people have problems. Especiallypeople who live near the company or in the KarawangArea. They are poor people.

Each year UID and its employees do CSR activities tohelp and share with the less fortunate people. Weare glad to see their smiles. Their happiness andpraying will enlighten our minds and UID spirit.

UTACCharity Golf

UTAC IN THE COMMUNITY / CSROn 3 November 2017 it was the 15th year that UTACThai Limited hosted an annual Charity Golf eventto raise funds for charity. In the past, manysuppliers and customers have been extremelysupportive of this project and 2017 was noexception. The tournament was held at the UnilandGolf and Resort, Nakornprathom Province. The daytime golfers had fun in the field. The night timegolfers also had fun with many activities such asthe Tree Lucky Draw and the Balloon dart game. Atotal of THB 1,228,600 (equivalent to USD 37,230)in cash was raised at this event. Dr. W. John Nelsonalso made a personal cash donation to charity.

On 12 December 2017, UTAC Thai Limited and UTACFamily Foundation donated THB 300,000 in cash and109 sacks of rice to the Worradit Temple, Ang-ThongProvince. This temple takes care of hundreds oforphans.

ChristmasGifts Solicitation

During the season of joy and giving, we planned Q4 CSR activity tosolicit gifts for children in need at Christmas. After posting the wish listsof these children, employees responded enthusiastically. We achievedthe objective of soliciting 60 gifts in just 6 days. Moreover, manyemployees voluntarily joined us to wrap gifts to ensure that all Christmasgifts could be delivered on time. Afterwards, we received “thank younotes” from the children to show their appreciation. We were so happyand proud to have incredible employees who helped to provide thesechildren with a Christmas suprise.

At the Singapore Health Award Presentation Ceremony held on 10 October2017 at the ITE College Central, USG2 was awarded the Certification ofRecognition by the Health Promotion Board. Under the Corporate RecognitionAward category, USG2 was proud to be among 125 companies recognised fortheir exemplary workplace health practices and tremendous efforts inpromoting workplace health to enhance the well-being of employees. Othercompanies in the Electronics Industry included GlobalFoundries, Jabil Circuit,Seagate Singapore and United Microelectronic.

USG2 embarked on a health promotion journey in 2015 and since then, wehave implemented numerous employee wellness activities in the workplacetargeted to increase health awareness amongst our employees, integrate work

with their lives, aswell as to makeUTAC a fun placeto work. We held sports events such as badminton,basketball, fun runs and the ever popular bowlingcompetition. We also rolled out health talks, healthbazaars and nutrition workshops. To support emotionalwellness, charity events such as visits to the elderly, theintellectually disabled and sacrificing our hair for cancerpatients (under the Hair for Hope programme) were alsoorganized.

This year, we also launched our strategic wellnessframework - “U-Zest” - which enables the design of morecomprehensive programs to address a broader range ofobjectives. To support this framework, we are partneringAIA Vitality to leverage on technology and gamificationto keep track of our health, improve our well-being andat the same time, get rewarded for our efforts. We arehappy to see our efforts bearing fruit and we willcontinue striving to shape an environment whichimproves the health and well-being of our employees.

In June, UTAC was selected as one of The HRD Magazine’s Top HRTeams in 2017. UTAC is the only company in the manufacturing spaceto be selected as a winner. HRD Magazine is a prominent ProfessionalHR publication in circulation in Asia, Australia and Canada with its newswebsite also covering United States and New Zealand. It has areadership base of 110,800 in Asia consisting of Senior HR Leaders aswell as other C-suite and director level executives.

For both these awards, UTAC wasrecognized for excellence in the areaof Change Management for its work inthe launch of its new vision and valuesand how it simplified and integrated itspeople processes (e.g. UPM, UPR, U-

SELECT, U-GROW, Performance Driven Rewards, CEO Award) tosupport UTAC’s growth strategy and set the foundation for a One UTACCulture. Key factors that helped in driving these effective changeinitiatives were our CEO’s commitment to our people agenda, seniorleadership team’s support and HR - line managers’ partnership withpositive employee engagement. These truly exemplify our “One UTAC”spirit.

In February, UTAC received a “Special RecognitionAward” for Best Change Management Strategies atthe 2017 HRM Awards Ceremony. UTAC was one ofeight finalists in this category. The HRM Awards wascreated to ‘Celebrate, Reward and Promote GreatHR’. Now in its 14th year, it remains the mostprestigious and honourable HR accolade inSingapore.

2107 was a year of “Double Happiness” for UTAC HR Team.

UMY held an employeeappreciation dinner onJanuary 1, 2018 at theEquatorial Hotel Melaka.Employees enjoyed a“Retrolicious Nite” of dinnerand dancing dressed incolourful 70’s &80’s clothes.A photo booth and a photobillboard was available foremployees to capture the funnight with colleagues andmanagement.

The evening was kicked offwith a speech by KC Yoon,GM, welcoming everyoneand thanking the UMY stafffor their hard work and dedication. KC added 2018 will be even more challenging, and requested all employees towork together and encouraged the team to endeavour to take UMY to the next level of excellence. Employeesdanced the night away to retro music and were entertained with games and door prizes / lucky draw.

This celebration was also a night to recognize and celebrate dedicated employees with long terms of service. A totalof 190 employees received their long service awards (5, 10, 15, 20 and 25 years). Five employees were recognizedfor 25 years of service. One recipient, Mohamad Khairi Bin Arifin, shared his sweet memories including meeting hiswife and both are now happily married with four sons aged 11 to 22 years old.

BOUNDING through COMMUNITIESI have been working in UID for 2 years. What I really like are the close-knit communities here. We have Photography,Muang Thay, Tennis Table, Futsal, Badminton, Aerobic, and Running. These communities make us healthy and happy.We feel free!

UTC successfully achieved its 2017 revenuetarget. To celebrate the company held aspecial party to thank all employees and toappreciate every employee’s contribution.We also look forward to working togetherto achieve the 2018 performance targets.

We held the party in the staff canteen atlunch time on Friday, 26th Jan 2018. Theatmosphere was full of joy and gratitude.Everyone received a complementary lunch,a rich meal with cake and drinks. Deputy-GM, KC Wen, presented awards to theoutstanding employees and internallecturers to recognize their performance. Heencouraged them to keep up the good workfor the company to create more opportunitisfor excellent performance and productionquality.

With such encouragement, we hope toachieve greater unity and cohesion in UTC!
