Profile

- Who I amI am a Scottish graduate from the university of Edin-burgh with a MSc in Landscape Architecture. My Skills out-reach my degree with experience in business devel-opment, marketing and large scape project management.

- my strengths (which must be backed up in the body of the main document)- Specific skills (with figures to back up

My name is Jack. Above all I am enthusiastic, but other words you could use to describe me would be energetic, sociable, adaptable, imaginative, caring and hard working. Testing and pushing ideas is something that I enjoy thoroughly and I have a keen interest in organisation and business development as well as marketing, sales, people management and strategy. I also love to see projects to the end, getting involved on every level. My degree in Landscape Architecture has given me an understanding of, and an interest in the creative industries and design, which is where I intend to begin my career. My future aspiration is to become part of the marketing and business of the industry.

In 2015, during my masters year at university, I took 750 students to the Alps. Many of the students I spoke to referred to it as one of the best weeks of their lives and the university snowsports club described it as one of the most competently organised and successful events in recent club history. This achievement illustrates my skills in organi-sation and promotion as well as my commitment to a project and the ability to follow things through. While my love of skiing and sports remains a hobby, it has helped to shape my ideas about what skills I can carry with me into a career.

“Landscape architecture is rooted in an understanding of how the environment works and what makes each place unique. It is a blend of science and art, vision and thought.” - Landscape Institute

My course was a 5-year, design-based degree (including a masters year). It involved working with and re-designing a variety of generally large scale sites, raging from housing projects to parks and natural areas. To realise these designs, we studied a wide range of subjects including horticulture, geology and building legalities, working within groups as well as individually. All of our projects had to be communicated effectively through graphics, publications and presentations. Overall, I developed landscape architectural skills as well as a keen interest in design and a variety of transferable skills.

RudeChaletsisanalpinebarandaccommodationenterprisebasedintheFrenchmountainsportstownofMorzine. I was selected from part of a small management team to play a central role in establishing three new business ventures for the company that season, helping me to gain a great deal of business and start up knowledge. I contributed new ideas (often very quickly) to ways in which the business could generate income, how to successfully launch our new venues, how to manage staff and much more.

I not only gained a number of key work place skills but had many of my skills tested as I was forced to adapt to many different job roles. I was the manager of one of the venues; a new bar, hotel and restaurant, so was intrinsic in the opening and establishment of the premises. My responsibilities were promotion and recruiting and managingstaffandIalsomadeorders, andmanagedthecash.Afterthefirstpartoftheseasononcethevenue established itself, I then refocused on promoting a second venue, which became one of the most successful bars in resort.
