SOCIALFORSKNINGSINSTITUTTET in Copenhagen.

Report from 2006 from an investigation about occupation and handicap in Denmark

Page 7: Jacob Wibroe Anja Rathje Rianne van Santen CVU-Vita Holstebro Denmark

This report shows:

That people with an (incurred) handicap have a much lower connection to the labour market than healthy persons.

Some groups are without a working capacity. The group with a small handicap can find a job easily. The group with a larger handicap finds it much more difficult to find a job, even though they have a working capacity.

This indicates that there are not quite equal opportunities for all people who have intentions to work, but have incurred handicap.

The opportunities for returning to occupation or a job for people with

an incurred handicap are quite good in Denmark.

1. Because of the financiel situation, and the demokratical way of solving problems in

Denmark.

2. Because of the way the Danish people look at handicapped people as a part of the

community.

An awareness of the fact that a person with a handicap cannot be

totally equal compared to a healthy person

As therapist and human being we can work towards creating equal

opportunities

Equality is a common responsibility
