Introduction

Oil & Gas Cables Tratos has been producing cables for use in the oil and gas industry for over 40 years. We provide cables for a large variety of onshore and offshore operations, including umbilical cables for offshore applications, which have been supplied in conjunction with our partner MFX, as well as highly specialised submarine cables. We manufacture cables for power, control, signalling and fibre-optics, and we can also develop composite types that include any or all of these elements. Tratos can offer cable to meet numerous standards, such as Lloyd’s for Mud Resistant types, as well as American, British and European standards including NEK 606, BS6883 & UKOOA.

Case studies Scarabeo 5 - North Sea, Norway Company: Saipem Project: Scarabeo 5, Norway - North Sea, 2014 SDR Scarabeo 5, an Italian built rig designed specifically for Norwegian conditions, has been refurbished using several million Euros worth of Tratos Oil & Gas Cables by Saipem. Operating successfully on the Norwegian Continental Shelf since 1990, Scarabeo 5 is a 5th generation vessel with large capacity, advanced performance and strong technical capabilities. It features a dynamic positioning (DP) system, allowing drilling at great water depths – down to 2000 meters for this rig to date. As part of its ongoing maintenance programme, Saipem - a world leader in the oil and gas contracting services sector – has installed oil and gas cables from Tratos to the value of several million Euros. The cables are being used to supply power, control and signalling throughout the rig.

Case studies Clipper South - North Sea, UK Company: Shell EPC: Rosetti Marino - Central North Sea, UK - 2013/14 Project: Clipper South - North Sea - United Kingdom Located off the North East Coast of East Anglia, UK in the North Sea, the Clipper South gas field and its wellhead platform owned by Shell have been developed by Rosetti Marino using Tratos Oil & Gas Cables to the value of several million Euros. Clipper South is a substantial gas field with a wellhead platform tied by 12” pipeline to Conoco/BP’s LOGGS Platform from where gas is exported onshore to Theddlethorpe Gas Terminal, 100km away. As part of ongoing development work, including new production wells, Tratos Oil & Gas Cables have been used extensively throughout the field to supply power, control and signalling. Cables supplied include low and medium voltage power, control and instrumentation cables, including fire resistant variants, plus submarine and umbilical cables.

Alba Marina Company: Edison Project: Alba Marina and Rospo Platform - Adriatic Sea Tratos has supplied 1830 meters of is TratoSubmarine medium voltage cable to energy company Edison for use in its Alba Marina floating storage and offloading vessel (FSO) and Rospo Mare B Platform, located in the Adriatic Sea. Manufactured in Tratos’ Italian factory to IEC 60228 and IEC 60502-2, IEC 60840 to 26/45 KV, the TratoSubmarine cable comes with a copper or aluminium circular stranded conductor, extruded semi-conducting layer, HEPR insulation and a special hygroscopic PE innersheath and oversheath. It features double galvanised steel armouring for exceptional durability, making TratoSubmarine ideally suited to the oil and gas and utilities markets. The TratoSubmarine power cable replaces the existing Tratos cable which was fitted at the Alba Marina and Rospo Mare B Platform in 2004.

Arzew Train De GNL Company: ENI Saipem Project: Arzew Train de GNL Algeria In July 2008 Sonatrach announced that a contract had been awarded for a new LNG liquefaction train. The onshore contract is worth €2.8bn and will involve the construction of a new LNG liquefaction train on a brownfield site in the industrial zone of Arzew adjacent to the existing refinery. The work was awarded to a joint venture of Saipem / Snamprogetti and Chiyoda on a turn-key basis. The contract will involve the engineering, procurement and construction for a 4.7-million-ton-a-year liquefaction train and associated infrastructure. Sanazzaro Refinery Company: ENI Project: Sannazzaro Refinery - Po Valley, Italy Specialist cable manufacturer Tratos has won a €15 million contract for the supply of oil and gas cables to the Sannazzaro Refinery, owned by energy company ENI, in the Po Valley, Italy. Following the upgrading of the refinery capacity in 2009, the Sannazzaro Refinery is one of the most efficient and flexible in Europe It mainly supplies markets in North-Western Italy and Switzerland, including Italy’s most highly industrialized area - the Turin-Milan-Genoa industrial triangle. Tratos Cavi, which has been producing cables for use in the oil and gas industry throughout its 40 year history, will supply a range of oil and gas cable to the refinery for a variety of applications including power, control and signalling. The cables are manufactured to all the relevant American, British and European standards including BS6883, NEK 606 & UKOOA.

Nigerian Agip Oil Company's Gas Plant Company: Saipem S.p.A Project: Nigerian Agip Oil Company’s Gas Plant Onshore-Obiafu/Obrikom Tratos has supplied Saipem S.p.A – an international turnkey contractor in the oil and gas industry – with instrumentation and low voltage power cables for installation at the Nigerian Agip Oil Company’s on shore Gas Plant in Obiafu/Obrikom and nearby Flow Station in Irri as part of an upgrade to the facilities. Tratos Cavi has been producing cables for use in the oil and gas industry throughout its 40 year history and has worked closely with Saipem on many projects in the industry. Azzawiya Oil Refining Company Inc Company: Azzawiya Oil Refining Company Inc Project: Azzawiya Oil Refining Company Inc - Libya The local AZZAWIYA REFINERY CO. (ARC) recently awarded a $300,000,000 refinery upgrade contract to France-based TECHNIP-COFLEXIP. And, the company is now said to be planning a second development phase. ARC is reportedly said to be considering the installation of: - A new residual fluidized catalytic cracker unit; - Methyl tertiary butyl ether (MTBE) facilities; - An additional sulfur treatment plant. Azzawiya Oil Refining Company (ARC) was evaluating revised proposals from two international consultants for the project management consultancy (PMC) contract to oversee the construction of a fully protected harbour at Azzawiya. The new bids were submitted in early October by Denmark's COWI and Royal Haskoning of the Netherlands. The revised bids follows the submission of bids from four international consultants in September--the other two being Denmark's Niras International and the UK office of Japan's Nippon Koei. Tratos is pleased to announce that it has supplied Oil and gas cables to the Revamp of the Gas-Turbine Plant , Azzawiya, (45 km west of Tripoli) Great Jamahiriya (LIBYA).

Taranto Refinery Company: Snamprogettisud S.p.A Project: Taranto Refinery - Italy Tratos has supplied Snamprogettisud S.p.A, a subsidiary of oil and gas contractor Saipem, with a range of instrumentation cables for installation at the Taranto Refinery. The Taranto Refinery, which began operation in the late 1960s and continues to adapt to meet the needs of the ever changing oil market, mainly produces fuels for the automotive and residential heating markets in Southern Italy. The contract to supply instrumentation cables was awarded to Tratos based on keen pricing, service, reliability and product quality. Tratos is renowned for quality cabling, ensuring its instrumentation cable is designed and manufactured to protect the transmitted signal from internal and external interferences and disturbances. Adriatic LNG Terminal Company: ADRIATIC LNG Terminal Project: Adriatic LNG Terminal - Italy TRATOS recently supplied a 24 Optical Fibres cable suitable for subsea installation up to 200 meters in depth for the ADRIATIC LNG Terminal which required a continuous length of 18 km. The Adriatic LNG terminal is a liquid natural gas offshore terminal nine miles offshore near Rovigo, Italy in the northern Adriatic. It is the world's first offshore LNG terminal. When the terminal becomes fully operational, it is expected to store and regasify 21.8 million cubic meters (770 million cubic feet) per day, enough to meet 10% of Italy’s natural gas needs. The continual 18km length of Fibre in the TRATOS Cavi factory in Pieve S. Stefano (Italy) The Adriatic LNG terminal on its way from Algeciras, Spain to it final destination near Rovigo, Italy in the northern Adriatic.

Bespoke Subsea Cables Company: MFX and Tratos Project: Offshore Oil Production and Thermoplastic High Pressure Hoses Tratos has formed an alliance with pioneering Brazilian cable manufacturer MFX to produce bespoke subsea umbilical cables for use in offshore oil production and thermoplastic high pressure hoses. MFX has earned an excellent reputation over the past 26 years for its top quality engineered products and services. The company continually invests in R&D, specialised employees, selected suppliers and associated consulting services. The two companies have already worked on a number of high profile projects together, including the provision of 110km of umbilical cable for the Roncador field in the Campos Basin to water depths of 2000m; umbilical cable for the Bicudo field also in the Campos Basin; and intervention umbilicals to operate in water depths of 3000m and working pressure up to 10,000psi. These umbilical subsea cables allow for hydraulic and injection fluids to be transmitted, as well as power and data, depending on the cable type. The cables have been tested extensively both in laboratory trials and actual installations and have proven to be exceptionally reliable.

Subsea Optical Cables For the first time we have manufactured a subsea single optical cable over 18 km long. This was made possible thanks to our recently built new production site and the installation of new armouring and sheathing plant and winding structures capable of handling reels with a flange diameter of up to 4 metres. This production process has involved the plant for over six months, with 3 shifts per day and the constant engagement of a 40 people production team. This subsea optical cable covering a distance of over 19 kilometres connects a mooring in the upper part of the Adriatic Sea for ships transporting liquid gas to an island re-gasification centre.

Cables for Umbilical applications An umbilical is a set of hoses electrical cables and tubes, that transport hydraulic and chemical injection fluids, as well as electrically transmitted signals and power. Its function is to activate opening and closing mechanisms in the subsea oil and gas production equipment monitoring the well’s characteristics (temperature and pressure). Tratos in co-operation with MFX of Brazil produces hydraulic, electro-hydraulic and electrical umbilicals that are able to carry out diverse activities for controlling chemical processes and injections for subsea oil and gas extraction in wells located at depths up to 2000 metres. For specific applications umbilicals have been qualified for depths of 3000 metres. MFX have to date produced more than 500 km of umbilicals – all of which, from the earliest to the most recent production, are functioning normally and fully complying with the functions for which they were designed.

Armaflex Tratos Armaflex can be used in both dry and wet locations; in ventilated,

non-ventilated and ladder type cable ducting, and is also suitable for direct burial.

Quantities start from as little as 100 mtr and up to 1500 mtr in a continuous length. The interlocking armour is available in both Aluminium and Galvanised Steel upon request with a range of elements for use in automation, control, lighting, data, coaxial, fire resistant and power. The sheathing materials available include Low Smoke Zero Halogen, MDPE and PVC; the interlocking armour is available in a range of sizes with an internal diameter of 8.5mm up to 33.50mm with other sizes available upon request.
