START on TIME data for Quarter 2 can be viewed above.  As you can see, there was improvement from thefirst 9 week period by all grade levels.  The students are working hard to be punctual to their classes, and we arevery proud of them.

The 1st hour tardy count has increased dramatically.  Research shows arriving late to school on a consistent ba-sis can have long term academic effects.  One of the most important aspects of school is learning to be orga-nized and following the structure of the day.  Routines are in place to help put them in a position to focus onlearning and develop positive life-long habits.  Students who are late to school often have difficulty settling inand mastering routines, as well as missing out on very important classroom information.  Being late to school isalso linked to low graduation rates, lower grades, and lower scores on standardized tests.  So, please take a mo-ment and go over these ways to help get your child to school on time.

1)  Lay out school clothes the night before.

2) Keep shoes in one place

3) Get your child to bed on time

4) Prepare the night before – think ahead.

5) Invest in an alarm clock

6) Set the alarm clock 10 minutes early

7) Encourage your child to get herself/himself ready

8) Keep breakfast simple
