Contact JAPAN (1) Project Overview Project for the Promotion and Enhancement of the Afghan Capacity for Ef Development (PEACE) was launched in 2011 and has trained Afghan civil se at Japanese universities with an aim to promote infrastructure and rural agric development in Afghanistan. As of October 2016, a total of 507 participants enrolled at Japanese universities, of which 221 have returned to Afghanistan obtaining their Master’s or PhD degree. The goal of the project is to stren planning and implementation capacity of the government ministries the partic belong to through their active engagement by utilizing the knowledge and acquired in Japan after their return and reinstatement. In response to further request for human resource development from the A Government, PEACE Phase 2 was launched in 2016. In this phase, the fie study have been expanded to cover education and health. The number of the ministries has increased to 18 in total. Maximum number of 250 participants awarded study opportunities in five batches. Phase 2 also features “Shor Follow-up Training Program” for the returned PEACE alumni in order to help acquire further knowledge and skills necessary for their enhanced duties.
