The Design: The concept for this project was to create a space that would bring students in, while also adding a touch of vegetation and water to the space. The plaza design features large planters with recycled lumber cantilever benches built into the plater walls. A small water feature located near the stairs adds some tranqul sound to the space. To fill the space with more vegatation, small round stone planters contain some honey locust to provide some shade on sunny days.

The Design: The concept behind the design for this project was to focus on creating a small micro climate that would have an effect on cooling the building, while also making the front aesthetically pleasing. The mix between the grasses and ferns, add a soft touch to the hardscape, while a dry creek bed adds some more naturalistic qualities.

The Design: The inspiration for the design came from the area’s close proximity to the Boston Childrens Museum and the channel itself. The idea was to create spaces that would invite the visitors from the museum and the workers from the buisness district in to escape from the noisy environment of the city and bring them to a place where they can relax and enjoy being in a space next to the water’s edge.

In the historical scene, the site is in the location of the Boston Tea Party event. So the use of wood decking is used readily throughout the design in remembrance to the old docks. The design also incorporates a grass amphitheater, for possible events to take place, or it can be used to over see the surrounding area.
