SituationHans Dömkes GmbH was established in 1930 and today, the fourth generation is now at the helm. The company is based in Duisburg and specialises in the recycling of building materials for sale and distribution. Mineral elements are processed into recycled building materials, offering a high level of quality from both a construction and environmental point of view. The recycled materials are then used, in road building, horticulture and landscaping. Hans Dömkes GmbH employs a total of 17 people.

TaskRecycling building material means the construction and demolition wastes can be re-used, through a process of breaking, sifting and sorting. These mineral wastes are taken from demolition and excavation processes. At Hans Dömkes GmbH, two Liebherr wheel loaders supply the crusher with building rubble. The wheel loaders then transport the sifted and sorted construction materials, such as rubble, sand and gravel, to heaps where the sifted construction material is stored on a temporary basis. The two Liebherr wheel loaders also load the trucks which take away the reprocessed material. The Liebherr wheel loaders cover distances of 50 to 150 metres in the plant and are in operation for between ten and twelve hours a day.

SolutionThe Dömkes company had already tested wheel loaders from various manufacturers, however Udo Dömkes, the Director, was convinced by the Liebherr wheel loaders. He was already very satisfied with the 576 IIIB / Tier 4i and, at the end of 2016,

went on to purchase a new L 576 XPower® wheel loader which is compliant with emission stage IV / Tier 4f. The key factors in the decision to purchase another wheel loader were primarily the proven Liebherr quality and minimal fuel consumption. An additional positive influence on the purchasing decision was the excellent collaboration with the sales and service partner WBI Bau- und Industriemaschinen GmbH. The reinforced Z-bar linkage of the XPower® wheel loader is ideally suited to the particularly harsh operating conditions at Hans Dömkes GmbH. For the lift arm of the L 576 XPower®, the high lift variant was selected specifically for this operation. This is particularly effective for truck loading. The extended lift arm provides greater reach and, with greater height, also ensures a more productive loading operation.

The optimal weight distribution of the XPower® wheel loaders is also impressive, achieved by the unique component mounting position at the rear of the machine. This means that unnecessary counterweight can be avoided. The ideal weight distribution results in high tipping loads and greater handling capacity per hour of operation. This also ensures excellent driving stability as well as stability under load, which is an advantage given the varied terrain at Dömkes. The L 576 XPower® moves approx. 1,500 tonnes of material per day. Despite their particularly harsh operating conditions, the L 576 XPower® has an average fuel consumption of 15.5 litres of diesel per hour, demonstrated in the 1,150 operating hours already completed. As a result of the high level of customer satisfaction, a further XPower® wheel loader has already been ordered by Dömkes.
