Sixth Extreme Build Houseis Now The Privett Home

For twelve days in June, over 100 volunteers came to McCreary County to build the

2011 Extreme Build home. Jerry, Geneva, Zachary, and Kesha Privett became the

sixth McCreary County family to move into an Extreme Build home on June 18,

2011. Due to the weather, the dedication ceremony was held at FBC Whitley City. The

Privett family was presented with a personalized mailbox, blankets, Bibles, a lawn-

mower, and keys to their new home. The work of so many was celebrated through the

blessing of the Privett home with song and prayer. Pictures from each day of the build

are included inside this issue of KBF News and more are available on the KBF web-

    site at www.kybf.org/photos.

Reflections Of An InternBy Blair Riddle

Throughout college I have been fortunate enough to be a part of various

ministry opportunities. I have been to three different countries in Africa,

have served on the PASSPORTkids! staff for two summers, and have partici-

pated in various mission projects throughout the United States. While all ofthose have been amazing and insight-

ful experiences, I have truly valued my

time thus far working in my home state

of Kentucky. Sometimes all we need to

do is look down the street to find a valu-

    able ministry opportunity.

As the missions intern, my experi-

ence with KBF has involved a variety

of tasks. I have been able to meet with

church leaders, organization direc-tors, and enthusiastic KBF partners

throughout Kentucky. I have traveled to

    McCreary County, Nada, and through-

out Louisville to learn about the many

ways KBF works to build on assets that often go unnoticed. The sustainable

partnerships KBF has formed around Kentucky and in Morocco have been

    inspiring to learn about.

The highlight of my time with KBF so far has been Extreme Build where

KBF partnered with Together for Hope to build the sixth house in McCreary

County. Throughout Extreme Build I was able to meet new people from

around the state, have fellowship with people from different backgrounds,

and help build a new home for a very deserving family. It was great to see

everyones hard work come together as the construction site turned into a

home. I am thankful for the friendships and the compassion that was shown

throughout the week. There is a job for everyone at Extreme Build so if you

have never participated in it, I would highly encourage you to do so in the

future. Having a part in helping a family begin a more sustainable future,

while creating lasting relationships, is invaluable.

Extreme Build is only one of the many partnerships KBF has that I havebeen learning about during this internship. Each partnership KBF has is

essential. Without partners in Morocco, McCreary County, Nada, Owsley

County, and throughout Louisville, we would not be able to do the impor-

tant work we do. As someone who is new in the KBF office, I want to thank

everyone who is a partner to KBF. I have seen some of the work that your

partnerships have allowed KBF to do and know that KBF values each one.

As I learn about and take part in all that KBF does, I appreciate watching

churches live out the gospel by helping those who need it most. Throughout

my time at KBF I look forward to continuing relationships that will help

    build sustainability throughout our world.
