Later in the day, he and the other UM Bishops of the Southeastern Jurisdiction sent a joint letter expressing our grief and prayers to the AME Bishop and to the UMC Bishop in South Caroli- na. Not only were these nine who were slain fellow Christians, but were also part of our Methodist family. We have all been touched by the news from the Emanuel AME Church family. The for- giveness expressed from those affected is beyond words. This has touched close to home among the clergy and all of us who gather in welcoming environments of worship and small group Bible study. Let us be in prayer for the victims’ families, for the church family there, and for the one who did this terrible crime. May God be with each of you and protect you in these days. UMM 2015 UMM Fellowship Summer Lake Cookout

The men were honored to financially assist

the youth members and adult chaperon in travel ex-penses on their recent mission trip to Plymouth, NC. Thanks to all who came out and gave the Gift of Life at our recent Red Cross Blood Drive.

Mark your calendars now and be there for the 2015 UMM Summer Lake Cookout nestled down by the lake at Dewitt and Sarah Moretz’s home on Sat-urday, July 18th starting 4:00pm. There will be ham-burgers and hotdogs supplied by the men, prepared by local Master Chef “L Dewitt”. Everyone is asked to bring a side dish / dessert from their favorite recipe archives along with a drink to go with the hamburg-ers and hotdogs. If there is a particular yard game you enjoy, by all means bring and share (teach) it to those gathered. Oh, and don’t forget your relaxing lawn chair. There is an awesome shade area be-neath the big backyard tree where stories are shared, laughter heard, the soft echoing rippling of occasional incoming waves, friendships renewed and there is a slight chance you might catch someone even taking a peaceful nap (usually too much excite-ment going, but you never know). There might possi-bly be a chance of a relaxing boat ride down the lake or an exciting adventure on a jet ski. You won’t know if you don’t attend. The event will be held, rain or shine. This is a time where we can come together as brothers and sisters in Christ while just enjoying each other’s company and admire God’s creations.

This event will take the place of our July Fel-lowship meeting and the men have decided not to meet during August due to Homecoming activities. Our next UMM’s Fellowship gathering will be Sunday morning, September 13th at 7:00AM in the church fellowship hall for fellowship, devotions, breakfast, and going about doing God’s will in serving others! All males of the church are invited to join our fellow-ship of brothers and see how we, individually and as a team, can be a tool and an instrument used for the cultivation of others in Christ Jesus. So men, bring a friend with you!

2015 LAITY SERVICE AWARD RECIPIENTS

JUDY JONES & CECIL BLACKBURN

Thanks for all you do for the lord and your church!!!

UMYF At the time of writing this month’s article, our youth members and chaperon are over half-way through with their joint mission trip at Plymouth, and will be returning home this weekend (27th). Thank you again to those who gave of your finances in aid and your support in prayer for this group and their efforts. We eagerly wait to hear of their experiences in service and fellowship with the partnering groups from Mor- ganton and Union Grove. As a means to beat the heat of July, the UMYF will be venturing on an air conditioned outing of fellowship and fun to Sky Zone Trampoline Park in Charlotte, NC. The tentative date of the outing is set for Sunday afternoon, July 19th. Cost for admission to the park will be $14 per youth or less, depending on whether a group rate is met. More details will follow at normal UMYF meet-ings. The UMYF will be aiding this month with VBS as group leaders and as needed for other areas of supervision. We are very much looking forward to our joint bible school with Shiloh this year and hope to see our Mt. Bethel youth of all ages in attendance for what will be an exciting weekend! Normal UMYF meetings will continue on Sunday evenings from 6 to 7:30. May the Lord bless and keep you, Andrew Bolick
