The Quarter final round of the Independence Bank Relay Madness has ended leaving four teams left to battle it out. Relay Madness is a competition sponsored by Independence Banks in Glasgow, Malta, Poplar and Scobey. The object of the competition is for the registered teams for the Northeast Montana Relay For Life to sell more luminaria in the given time than the team they are pitted against. In the quarter final round it was last year’s top team, Scotty Cross Country, knocking Team Jan & Friends out of the competition. Crafter’s Haven squeeked by Opheim Cares #2; the Skelteton Crew beat up on GHS Student Council, and the big guns were firing as Strides of Hope demolished the Re-Lei-ers. Strides of Hope sold the most luminaria and will receive the bonus money for their team total. In the Semi-final round it will be Scotty Cross Country team (last year’s Relay Madness winners) taking on Strides of Hope, and Crafter’s Haven will face off against the Skeleton Crew. The deadline for getting your sales slips in to one of the sponsoring Indepence Banks is noon on July 8th.

JUNE 26 - JULY 1

by Emily Wilson, Library DirectorRenovations At the Library The Glasgow City-County Library is happy to announce that we are on track to have a new look by the end of July. Our new look will include both interior and exterior updates in specific areas of the library. While we are under transformation, we will be challenged to stay up and running while clearing out the entire children’s area and circulation area. Quite frankly, there will be a few days where we just cannot maintain safety of our patrons and our doors will have to be closed. Most days we will be open. However, some items – books, movies and DVDs – might be temporarily moved or unavailable. We will do our best to provide all the services we can during this transition. As we are at the mercy of our delivery and vendor schedules, we are unable at this time to predict accurately which days we will have to close. Our return book drop, e-books and website will be available during the entire transition. We have scheduled a two week hiatus of in-library summer reading programs. July 1- July 16 we will not be hosting any programs. However, reading sheets and do-at-home activity sheets will still be distributed and

collected during these two weeks. Programs will continue on July 17. We are excited about the coming changes and look forward to providing you an improved library environment for your enjoyment. Thank you and have a well-read day.

Facts & numbers don’t lie

Letter to the Buzz There appears to be a MULTITUDE of PROBLEMS and ISSUES other than clouded titles preventing the developing, marketing, and sales of some 750 condos in St. Marie.1. DEBT- Over $1 million dollars in taxes/water bills are in arrears as well as other liens2. DELINQUENT FEES- More than 90% of these properties have delinquent Village Association bills3. LITIGATION- Pending and ongoing LAWSUITS4. DISREPAIR- Functional deficiencies of these 750 condo units are APPARENT and KNOWN5. INSURANCE- By looking at the heavily damaged ones, appear to NOT be insured 6. BUSINESS PLAN- Is there ONE with budgeted income and repair reserves in place?7. DEMAND- Based on sales, appears there’s no real MARKET DEMAND at this time Considering all the DEBT and DEFICIENCIES and all OTHER PROBLEMS- It appears that the 750 condo units have no real value according to the FACTS and NUMBERS. So is there a PRODUCT READY to sell? Will BANKS LOAN on these properties since they don’t qualify for mortgage insurance? How many have PROPERTY INSURANCE, are they even insurable? Are their VALUES lower than their existing debt? In the past Kelly stated that they have no real value and the INVENTORY properties must be ALL kept together to have ANY VALUE at sale. Is there a MARKET FOR these properties at this time, with or without these many problems? MOST FOLKS would really like to see success for all the money and efforts put forth. “Economy of Scale” would benefit all St. Marie residents in regard to costs to maintain the infrastructure. This has been said many times by many people in many meetings. But, the FACTS SPEAK for THEMSELVES. ~ Nick Chiechi - Due DiligenceComments and corrections welcomed.

Kasey’s fund-raiser gets early boost from a former Glasgow Grappler Paul Clemmer stopped by the Buzz headquarters on Friday afternoon with a mission to see Scotty wrestler Kasey Seyfert off to Germany to wrestle for Team Montana. Paul cut Kasey a check for $100, which also serves in the memory of David Helland. Paul (GHS 1977) made the trip to Germany to wrestle in 1976 and knows the difficulty first-hand on trying to raise the needed funding on fairly short notice. “It’s not an easy thing to do,” he says, “it’s a lot of pressure.” Big Dave, who graduated in 1981, also had the privilege of wrestling for Team Montana, and it was the summer of 1979 (we think) when he enjoyed his cultural experience. While there is a fund-raiser function at the Glasgow High School at 6:00 on Monday, July 14th — “A night of Magic With Dave’s Wonderful World of Magic” and bake sale — Paul would like to challenge any and all Scotty fans to make Kasey’s goal of raising $2,400 a little easier. “He made the team and he deserves the chance to represent Glasgow,” Paul said, “every little bit helps.” All donations are tax deductible. You can drop your checks off at BS Central, located at 515 2nd Ave. South (across from KLTZ/KLAN Studios).
