Denise King - Principal

Presentation Assembly

I would encourage all our parents, carers and community to

come along tomorrow to enjoy our 2019 Presentation

Assembly. The assembly, held in the hall starting at 9.30am,

is a celebration of our students and their many achievements

Wudhararagarra Awards

I had the pleasure of attending the Wudhararagarra Awards in Dubbo last week where we celebrated the success of

our staff, students and programs at Narromine Public School. These awards celebrate and recognise innovation,

excellence and achievement in Aboriginal education in Western NSW public schools and communities. Teacher and

Instructional Leader Kylie Hall was recognised for her outstanding contribution to education as an Aboriginal staff

member, while students Nash Edwards and Nyarley Kelly received recognition of their hard work with an

encouragement award. The school was also awarded the School and Community Partnership award for its innovative

Connect ALL project which provided intensive individual and small group support for children effected by trauma,

grief and separation. This program was delivered as a partnership with Marathon Health, Network Specialist Centre,

Vincent Fairfax Family Foundation and Narromine Public School. These awards recognise the importance of

education and celebrate the very real efforts and commitment the school makes to achieving this for all students.

Gold Level Reward

Gold level is the highest of achievements in our behaviour

level system and can only be achieved by Year 6 students.

Gold Level recognises students who have maintained

outstanding behaviour for all of their primary school years

and have gone above and beyond to better our school and

support our staff and students. This year, 10 students

received this honour; Sophie Woods, Harry Irvine, Lili-Rose

Hutchison, Lily Dawson, Eliza Davison, Darby Gordon, Zac

Everett, Blake Tonkin, Nyarley Kelly and Paris Edwards.

It was my pleasure to take these students on a reward

excursion to celebrate this achievement. We had an

exciting day with lots of laughs along the way. Students

were taken to see a latest release movie with lots of

yummy snacks and popcorn, followed by lunch out at a

local Chinese restaurant where we were also joined by Mrs

King. We played a day long 'peg challenge' which was eventually won by the girls (although it was extremely close).

These students had a very well deserved reward for all of their efforts and I would like to thank them for such a

wonderful day. - Mrs Turnbull

Santa Spectacular

On Wednesday 12 December Narromine Public School will be participating in an exciting event to celebrate the long

standing partnership with Royal Far West. During the past four years, students identified as requiring speech support

have participated in Tele-Speech individual and group therapy programs. Narromine Public School is one the longest-

standing partners in the Telecare program with Royal Far West servicing more than 70 children from Narromine in

the past two years. The Sydney Santa Spectacular charity organisation, along with the Royal Far West team will be

bringing a truck carrying thousands of presents for country kids. Santa and his little helpers will be here to spread

some Christmas cheer and will generously be giving each child a gift on the day. There will be other special guests

including Daniel Gibson from Prime 7 News and the Narromine Mayor, Craig Davies. The Santa Spectacular will start

at 9:15am in the school hall. All parents and carers are welcome to attend.

Summer Reading Challenge

These summer holidays there will be a reading challenge for all students in Kindy to Year

5 and the reward will be Nerf challenge in the hall in 2019 – so remember to get reading,

Respect, Honesty, Responsibility – RHR – That’s Who We Are

PBL Update At Narromine Public School we show RHR when attending assemblies. We show respect

by sitting quietly and listening to whoever is running the assembly or speaking. Students

are encouraged to keep their feet still when sitting on the chairs and to be responsible

and sit with an appropriate buddy.

As the bell goes the time the music is playing is your time to go to the toilet and settle

ready to start the school day. At morning muster, students are required to be on time

and wait quietly for the music to stop. They need to say good morning to the person

running the assembly. Students need to listen to all messages.

During the K-6 Assembly it is essential students enter the hall by staying in a single line

and following your teacher to your designated seating area. Students need to sit on the

seats with their feet still. Also, when the school creed and national anthem are playing, students are expected to

stand quietly and sing.

In week nine, those students who are eligible, will be attending reward days. Early Stage 1 and 2 are doing water

play, Stage 2 will be going to the pool on Tuesday and Stage 3 will be attending the pool on Wednesday for their

reward. - PBL Team

Family Literacy Challenge

You have to be in it to win it, so get your family team together to complete the challenges. There is a box in the front

office to submit your entries. To collect the prize you need to make sure you have one name of a family member per

entry. For example: The Smith family – John Smith 3/4EG

The Challenges

ES1 & S1 (Kindy to Year 2) – Write a letter to Santa explaining what you would like for Christmas. Stage 2 (Year 3&4) – Write a description using figurative language about Santa Claus. Stage 3 (Year 5&6) – Create a song about Christmas and how it makes you feel.

News from 5/6W

Throughout the year, art4myroom a

website that has art lessons created by

teachers for teachers accept submissions

for the Prize Winning Art award. The

winner has a photo of their artwork

featured on the blog and a cool prize is

sent out to that creative student. This

term, Harley Bender was the recipient of

that award. Please read the following

comment from art4myroom and see

Harley’s award winning artwork - Large

Flowers.

“CONGRATULATIONS HARLEY! Your

artwork titled ‘Flowers from Fiji’ from our

Plants topic is awesome! You have shown

so much creativity in your ability to apply inspirations from your travels to your artwork. An oil pastel set is on its

donations was 3/4EG and the runners up were 5/6S and KO who will be having Cold Rock ice-cream and milkshakes.

Stage 3 Project Based Learning – Community Gala Day

On Wednesday, 28th of November, the Project Based Learning Gala Day was held. Year 5 and 6 showcased what

they have been learning about. Some groups of students were fundraising for different charities within the

Narromine community. Some of the charities included the Timbrebongie Aged Care, Save the Trees, Narromine

Netball Club, Narromine Jets, Community Garden, VRA Rescue Squad and Cancer Council Support Group.

The aim was to raise as much money as we could for the charities. This was done by selling slushies, cupcakes and

lolly bags with guessing and kicking competitions. We would like to thank all the community members, parents and

staff who came to Narromine Public School to support our gala day. - Isabella Press
