General Secondary Education (4+5+2 = 11 years)

Transition to 12­year general secondary education (4+6+2) by 2020. In 2014, as an experiment, students from 102 schools will be the first 

graduates of 12­year general secondary education

Types of institutions: General education school (general, no profile); Gymnasium (profiled to Humanities); Lyceum (profiled to Social Sciences and Physics/Mathematics). General secondary education courses are also provided at vocational education institutions.

Единое национальное тестирование (ЕНТ) – Unified National Test

­ Since 2008­ In 4 (or 5) subjects­ Grading: 100­point scale (or 125­point scale)

The Unified National Test is an admission requirement for the students who are going to continue their studies in Kazakhstan. The EHT is not considered as an admission requirement if a person is going to continue the studies abroad.

The General Secondary School programme can be completed and the Certificate of General Secondary Education is awarded without taking the EHT. In that case, the student has to take (and pass) the necessary examinations organized by the school
