Sunray CoreopSiSSunray coreopsis (Coreopsis grandiflora ‘Sunray’) is a peren-nial flower that blooms throughout the summer. Growing 1 to 3 feet tall and wide, sunray coreopsis has a moderate growth rate. The semi-double deep yellow blooms sit atop the bright green foliage for a showy garden display. Tucked into a flowerbed, sunray coreop-sis provides a non-stop presence of bright blooms. To promote flowering, always deadhead the spent blooms. Sunray coreopsis

requires full sun to part shade and well-drained soil that is nutrient-rich. Plant in USDA zones 4 to 9.

BlaCk-eyed SuSanBlack-eyed Susan (Rudbeckia fulgida) is a perennial flower with a moderate growth rate and upright, clump-ing habit. Growing 18 to 30 inches tall, black-eyed Su-san flowers are a summer-blooming flower to plant in July for a long-lasting blooming season. Drought-toler-ant, they withstand limited moisture and arid climates, creating one of the toughest summer perennials. The daisy-like blooms of black-eyed Susan surround the gold to black center that resembles a miniature bee-hive. To promote a long flowering season, deadhead the spent blooms as soon as they are visible. After flowering, cut back the black-eyed Susans to encour-age a second round of bloom in late fall. Black-eyed Susans require full sun to part shade and well-drained soil to thrive. Plant black-eyed Susan in U.S. Depart-ment of Agriculture (USDA) hardiness zones 3 to 9.
