with steer and heifer calves mostly 4.00 to 6.00 higher and instances sharply

higher for calves below 500 lbs. As the week progressed, prices settled a bit

finishing mostly steady to 4.00 higher with some markets reporting prices to 2.00

NATIONAL BOXED BEEF CUTOUT LM_XB403 Boxed beef cutout values higher on moderate demand and offerings. Select and Choice chuck, and round cuts steady to firm while loin cuts higher. Beef trimmings unevenly steady on light to moderate demand and moderate offerings.

CHOICE SELECT Estimated composite cutout value of Choice 1-3 600-900 lbs carcasses up 1.72 at 208.24; Select 1-3 600-900 lbs carcasses up 1.23 at 203.97; based on 45.22 loads of Choice cuts, 24.18 loads of Select cuts, 12.95 loads of trimmings, and 15.28 loads of coarse ground trimmings.

CARCASS PRICE EQUIVALENT INDEX VALUE NW_LS410 Estimated carcass price equivalent value of Choice 1-3 600-900 lbs carcasses up 0.90 at 192.28; Select 1-3 600-900 lbs carcasses up 0.79 at 187.18.

Current index reflects the equivalent of 101,408 head of cattle.

Producers Livestock Auction Co, San Angelo, Texas Feb. 6, 2018; Compared to last week slaughter lambs weak to 10.00 lower. Slaughter ewes weak in light test. Feeder lambs not well tested. Nannies and kids weak. Trading and demand moderate. Quality mostly average to plain. Supply included 40 percent slaughter lambs, 3 percent slaughter ewes, 2 percent replacement ewes, balance goats. All slaughter lambs went to non-traditional markets. All sheep and goats sold per hundred weight (CWT) unless otherwise specified.

New Holland Sales Stables - New Holland, PA Feb. 5, 2018; Slaughter Sheep: Compared to last week, Slaughter lambs traded mostly steady to 20.00 higher on a good quality supply. Slaughter Ewes mostly 5.00-10.00 lower. Slaughter bucks steady on a light test. Supply consisted of 85 percent Slaughter Lambs, 13 percent Slaughter Ewes, and 2 percent Slaughter Bucks. All sheep are sold by the hundred weight.

Slaughter Goats: Compared to last week, Slaughter Kids sold mostly steady. Slaughter Nannies sold mostly steady to 10.00 low-er. Slaughter Bucks sold mostly 10.00-20.00 lower. Slaughter Wethers traded steady to 20.00 higher on a light test. Today's goat supply consisted of 30 percent Slaughter Kids, 40 percent Slaughter Nannies, and 30 percent Bucks/Billies and Wethers. All goats are sold by the head on estimated weights.
